I’ve noticed an increase in the resistance of the motor at the cranks on my 2018 Full E+1 since January and on my ride at the weekend had to use full power for the route as normal and eco were not putting out enough assistance to hide the weight of the bike. Any ideas if this is fixable or needs a new motor?

does this resistance start happening an hour or more into a ride? I've notice similar symptoms on longer/more intense rides - I attribute it to heat in the motor. Goes away when it cools down.

It's right from the start of a ride, my partners children have E+2's and when the bikes are suspended there is a clear resistance increase on mine when just turning the pedals while the bike is turned off. It feels like the rear brake is rubbing, but the wheel itself spins fine.

I was trying to avoid having to take the bike into the dealer as I'm not likely to get a warrantee repair, and they may just opt to charge me for a new motor rather than a cheaper bearing repair.

I replaced my motor crank bearings as one was ceased and the other was lose/rattling. Cost £27 and I learnt a lot about the motor. It is not as scary as most people think. So dont just go by what the bike shop says and have expensive work done.

Where are you based ? there are a lot of small compines springing up to deal with these motors now.

I’m based in Devon - I’ll see if I can locate a specialist nearby. The main issue with doing it myself is having the right tools for crank removal. I’ll have to do a little more research. Thanks
