Motor replacement ?

So not even 12 months into Reign ownership and the motors shit itself. After previous owning a Levo I’m starting to think the Giant is going to be a similar pain in the arse… It started making a strange squealing noise and was really hot to the touch then zero assistance LBS have diagnosed it as the motor going bang. So when Giant send the replacement what happens to the old motor? Is it returned or do we get to keep them as expensive paper weights?
