Modded Vans

All great info mate, Thanks. our camper is setup with a 2000w inverter a 185Ah agm battery and a high output 150w solar panel, so Hopefully should cover mine and the wife's 500w batteries with ease :) yet to try it out tho ;)

I looked at one of the new transit doublecabs the other day, but was told 16 week lead time for an auto with passenger seat rather than front bench.

Like the new dash

And 16 seconds to get the doors open...

Saw my nieces one this weekend - looks very practical up to 6 people and room for bikes in the back.

How many bikes can you get in with the wheels still on?

With a lwb you can pile them in. Not sure on standard wheelbase

Peugeot Expert L has nearly 1.9

Yup. Mines same spec plus tailgate and waited 16 weeks too. Definitely worth the wait. Even prefer it to the range rover I had previously ???

Are the three rear seats fixed or are they removable? If removable, is it a complete 3 seat bench or could you remove some of the seats?

It's a fixed 3 seat bench bolted down. Probably could be removed but definitely not designed to be removed regularly - I would guess it weighs a tonne?

Shame I was hoping for a 1-2 split. I'd need to get a dog crate in the back that's too big for a 5 Series estate along with up to 3 bikes and people.

Think you'd need to start from a Tourneo rather than a transit as they have lots of individual seats in the back, you'd just need to black out the rear windows.

I would look at the Peugeot/Citroen/Toyota options.

It’s based off a car Chasis rather than a commercial one, which was noticeable when I test drove the Peugeot.

The MPV versions also have modular seating, so for example you can remove individual seats.

Problem is they come with 3 rows so if you don’t need the third you have to store it somewhere

I love what you can do with the transporters bit have never got on with the driving position. That’s a mean front end

But i don't think it gets muddy in the engine bay

My 63 Renault Traffic, took about 15 months to convert from a bare panel van.

Separate rear garage
Night heater
150W Solar panel
Leisure battery with split charge setup
Skylight
compresser fridge
Sink/Cooker
Double bed
