I didnt do it with the latest firmware i did it with the previous two versions
As far as i know the upgrades are suposed to be free for life but i guess individual bike shops can charge for their workers time.
Either take it to where you bought it or try a specialized concept store, all spesh dealers should have the connection tools to do the upgrade but i guess even if they are spesh dealers if they dont sell many ebikes they wont invest in the tools.
I have seen the tools for sale on the web but getting logged on to the specialised website to download the firmware is not possible unless you are a registered dealer

The new app gives me some very bizarre default settings?

It defaults to:
35% ECO
95% Trail
100% Turbo

With a maximum power of 35% ???
That just seems all kinds of wrong?

It also no longer shows me my motor serial number in the motor options?

Do you have the firmware update? If not the setting are a bit meaningless

No I don't have the firmware update, but I still need to use the app?

And the apps default settings are a complete mess? The settings above, are the defaults for anyone using this app now, with any current Levo. I don't suspect many have the update, most will have updated the app, but few will have updated the firmware (yet).

So what I mean is, all iOS and Andrios users just got an update that completely changes their default settings (to what i mentioned above)

But not all those Levo owners got their firmware updated yet, so I would suggest that it's more than likely that there are more old firmware / new app users than there are new firmware / new app users (as of right now) so unless the app shouldn't be used by current 2017/2018 Levo users, is say it's pretty important, as that's how we tune the bike today ;)

So if you have the new app, but old firmware. Nothing is changed? The acceleration slider is gone and replaced with a slider for maximum power. What does this affect?

That's my point Jo, everything has changed for users on the old firmware but new app., the settings are complete dog shit.

My bike with these new settings from the new app is not working well for me at all?

What a bizarre set of defaults that truly is. It feels totally weird when cycling with these new default settings and I can't figure out why they chose these as the defaults.

This essentially means, anyone who wants to use the new app really does need to update to the new firmware, as the new app doesn't appear to play nice (backwards compat) with the old firmware as it's completely douched my old mission control defaults, to this 95/35 nonsense which feels weird.

I can always change them back manually and get it close, but I don't know what the old defaults were and I used to run "race" as I loved that ability to push me up and steep unexpected incline and give me time to change gear, it was the difference from making it up and stepping off the bike for me.

Now I don't get the immediate push to get me out of sticky situation when hitting the Turbo button etc.

People all over the world will wake up with new settings where they have new defaults, missing features and a completely different riding experience.

Bizarre way to approach this app upgrade if you ask me.

It would have made sense to leave the app functionality exactly as is on 22.3 and "add" unlock new features with .23.

Removing features and changing our defaults to that above, is ... interesting?

Can't you just set your settings to 20/50/100 to match the original defaults?

So if I got the new app and new firmware.
I set peak power of eco to 30% and 60 trail, turbo 100.
And then I just adjust the mode sliders to where I like. It should react exactly the same as the old app and firmware?

Wow. So you can't edit/save eco, trail and turbo at all? You're stuck on the new defaults you said?
No, im saying the new features don't allow me at all to get back my old settings. I have a Comp Carbon (small) which bizarrely fits me perfectly ;) and the defaults and the new app removes Race and changes the defaults.
So even if I set them up to close as possible, it will still ever be the same as they removed the features I use/like. Also I contacted Evans and they said some stores may do FW upgrades for anyone struggling to get it done.

Ahhh, so you've just lost the acceleration response from Race now to Eco, as you can set the modes to the original 20/50/100 with 100 max power defaults.

If you don't want the new setup, perhaps a hardware reset on old or existing firmware with default settings could be done?
Also, better option probably, you might be able to download an older version of the app (your previous version) from some archive somewhere and install manually.

Yea that's not gonna work for the foreseeable future. But you are correct they are options.

Just a bit of a unusual move to remove features and not just add a warning or an informational notice. In my opinion, it seems like this decision to remove "race" could have something to do with the EU laws irrespective of what the patch notes say.

In race it takes off like a bat out of hell and on an unexpected incline hill it's an absolute life saver and saved me getting off my bike a few times. It's a TOP feature!
As soon as I enabled it on my bike, it was a real eye opener. But it does zoom off pretty fast. I'm guessing it was removed for safety reasons, but that means users are being restricted, options removed, features removed etc.. how many more ways will it be restricted because it's too dangerous for us. Disappointing.

Yeah, fair enough.

If you're able to get the last version of the app, you should be back in business, then you don't need to update ever again :D.

I was thinking the Race mode was changed to Eco response not just for the 'natural' feel as they said, but also to generally provide more range, perhaps put less stress on the motor long-term too. Agreed the option and decision should lay with the rider though.

I’ll be getting the update this arvo, and they want $35 cause I did not buy the bike there. Spouse it saves a 250km drive to where I got the bike.
Will let ya know how it goes

Just got the 10.23.1 update and now have infinite tune.
When just the app updated, and with no firmware update. My battery health went from 94% up to 95%... strange.
This is what it looked like when app updated and firmware not updated (pic1)

So now with the app updated and the new 10.23.1 battery firmware update here’s a look at everything set at it’s lowest value all power only as low as 10% (pic2)
And all at it’s highest values all power at 100% ( pic 3)

Well what does this mean ...
it means it’s good for me as I can tune it to suit my riding.
So previously trail gave me max power of 60% ( not enough in general) and I still wanted 100% everything in turbo on occasions but had to use it all the time cause trail was lacking (for me).
Now I can dial the trail to 80% and use it all the time instead and save battery. And still have turbo 100 when I need it.

It's interesting the different tunes people do. I'd like to go down to 15/35/65 for assist from the default 20/50/100. 50 is a lot and 100 just seems pretty unnecessary for me, I'd prefer the range.
I think I'd keep max power at 100 until I'm happy with assist levels, then kick back max power per assist mode until finding the sweet spot for not too little and just enough max power when needed.

I'm most interested in someone reporting how the acceleration response from race to now eco feels, could be the deciding factor whether to change from the current firmware and defaults alone!

I never really felt the difference in the acceleration from eco to race. The app changes it to eco for you automatically regardless of if you have the firmware update or not.
For me, I have to have the power levels fairly high most of the time as I have a heart condition. I hear of people running really really low setting that would not even give enough power to overcome the extra weight of the bike, and I think to myself, why bother, may as well ride a lighter analogue bike.

It does seem a bit stupid they update the app which appears not to work until you update the battery.
The acceleration feature has been taken away because a large number of customer did not like the surge and motor run on you get when set to race. Personally i liked it
There is an app called ETAP it essentially a copy of mission control with all the old functions in place and it works really well. If you want to stick with battery ver 22 and you like mission control i would suggest trying that app.
Still not a very well thought out plan from specialized. For me I love the Blevo and Zworks apps so for the time being i will stick with battery ver 22

imho what is hard to understand is why won't the firmware updates on battery are not done through bluetooth, through the mission control app that should be the normal, avoid travelling and some retailers taking advantage of it.
Firmware updates are a normal thing in most electronic devices so I think Spez has an opportunity here, to deliver a better service.

Hi,
I upgraded the app, my levels were the same as before. I did not touch the set default option. Will this change my motor characteristic? The only change i saw was the slider for acceleration was switched to the slider for peak power. Nothing else has changed for me. But i have not taken it for a ride yet. ECO, TRAL and TURBO is at the same level as before 30,70,100.
