Hi there, I was just looking to the forum to see if anyone had had experience breaking and replacing the EW-SD50 wire from the steps screen to the battery cable.
Essentially I’ve broke the cable and am looking to replace it but am unsure of what length is necessary to do so. If anyone had any advice or experience it would be greatly appreciated as I would like to know what length is needed/if this is replaceable without a motor/battery mount replacement

cheers in advance

I know you can buy the cables at places like this: Shimano Di2 EW-SD50 Electric Wire | Accessories Di2 Shop (bike-discount.de)

And I suspect you want one longer than 150mm  But I've no idea how long!

It should just be the case of routing a new replacement wire through the frame (somehow), and then plugging it in to the display and motor.

Maybe remove your existing cable and measure it? Although your existing cable may be helpful in routing a new wire - depends how easy/hard that looks for your bike ...

yeah so I’ve bought a 1200mm based off a string estimation, I’m hoping that’s enough because the max length sold is a worrying 1600mm haha.
That was what I had in mind, that I’d need the old cable to help thread the new one potentially. Hoping there’s not many internal fixings or anything that may cause stress!
Thank you for the advice!

To anyone in the same position as I was with their merida or Shimano STEPS e8000 system. The cable inside was 1400mm but 1200mm worked for my L frame. All went exactly as planned and the cable is internally routed and working! Message me if you need any advice on the matter!
Cheers
