Hello,

The forum looks amazing and has plenty of great information, looking forward to learn more from it. I live currently in Manchester and have been riding mtb's for a long time. I enjoy technical single trails that are fast descent, for me the adrenaline of the decent are the best part, hopefully the ebike will bring some enjoyment in the uphill, for now they are just pain for my legs ehhehe.

I'm currently still doing my search regarding my first ebike, have been looking a lot lately to different brands, their specs/ price and frame kinematics but still the major question is what motor to select. Is actually the biggest unknown for me, all the remains components are very comfortable how they work and what they do better.

I'm more inclined for the bosh Gen 4 with a 625wh that seems giving a great range / torque and silent. But I like some of the bikes that have the Shimano e8000, but comparing to the others looks a old motor and we'll behind, the Brose from specialised seems the best but the specs in the specialised place me off.

In regard the bikes I have in my list to lock at the following:

YT Decoy / Orbea Wild Fs / Canyon Spectral / Trek Rail

The Orbea Wild Fs looks very good in specs and frame kinematics, I'm trying to find the diference in weight between the M10 and H10 models but I can't find anywhere. Hopefully someone in the forum will have one and will be able to help.

Looking forward to this new journey.

I can’t speak for any of the bikes you’ve mentioned but I’ve had 4th gen boosh and a 625 battery for 4 months now and it’s been great the misses also has the same good range, very reliable and decent range. Some motor noise but doesnt bother me. Enjoy your new bike which ever choice you make

Everyone thinks their bike is the best. Which is a good thing as it means that generally, they're all good, so you can't go too far wrong.

On the Bosch side, the Rail's seem to be really well liked by everyone who has one. The cubes offer great value. The Radon Render is probably the best value for specification with a 625 battery. Also worth a look at a couple of the Focus models.

If it wasn’t for the huge price cuts of the Old 2019 Bosch motor with 500wh battery which swayed my decision 9 months ago, I’d definitely be riding a Gen 4 and 625wh battery today.

I really don’t know a lot about other motors and I’m sure most are excellent but there is something about Bosch I trust. Perhaps it’s the fridges, washing machines etc which have never let me down ever that makes me trust them.

Thank you guys, really appreciate all the suggestions and your experience so far, I imagine all off them will give big smiles on the uphills from now on and can't wait to have that on my rides.

The cubes definitely offer a great value, I look into the frame kinematics and looked very flat what offer, I prefer something more progressive.

Do you guys ride with friends that have Shimano motor as well? How they compare in your opinion? I have looked at some reviews but still feel that what Shimano offer at the moment is quite old and buying one that will be replaced by something better very soon don't attract so much, where Bosh will keep improving the gen 4.
Does the increased 125wh in the bosh battery offer a deal break in terms of riding? Any of you feel that? or is just something on long rides you will feel that is nice to have?

I will definitely will have a look at the Radon Render mention and also the Focus models, haven't hear about them before. One brand that I liked as well was Propain Ekano but they don't have Green cycle scheme that I'm planing to use.

I have a Shimano motor and I have never had second's bother with it. Been through two winters. When I was doing my test rides, I rode Bosch (gen2), Yamaha, and Brose, but it was the Shimano that felt the most natural and suited me better than all the others. I have since read elsewhere (bike mag, or maybe on here) that Shimano had a very natural response. You really need to ride bikes with different motors to see which one suits you best as they are different, their torque curve and power curves are all different. You may find that one suits you better than all the others. :)

PS: It is the bike overall that you should choose, the motor is part of it of course, but it is how the motor and bike come together that is important. You will not be going into a bike shop and saying "I want a Bosch Gen4 please!". It's a bit like walking into a car showroom and saying "I want a red one please!"

I don't mean in that way, I see the motor like if you want a diesel, electric of petrol? They have diferent characteristics and good for diferent types of riding. With this virus all the demos where canceled, and the best way indeed is to try them, but that option being so limited at the moment, I can only try in the car park aparently in some shops, that makes really dificult to have a good idea, that why any feedback from you guys that already went ttrought that process will help me to spot what I need to know and some of the diferences that you experience.

allthou all are great motors the best to date for me is the Shimano it just suits me better and definately would be last out the door if they had to be sold for any reason .
Thank you for the feedback, I defenitly will have a try in the shimano will all the good feedback regarding the natural feeling.

Today hopefully will be able to make the first test drives in the car park ehehe, I will let you know how it went. Thank you so much for all the advices, I really appreciate it.

I had no luck guys, in the day that went to the shop was raining and couldn't try any model in the car park. I really liked the Merida model as well that I saw in the shop.
