Levo Gen 4 Levo Gen 4 Rumours and some facts...

I’m still scratching my head as why they went side load… and they only way I see something special happening is if the side load battery is modular in some way. Let’s say the 840wh battery in total weighs 9 pounds and is broken into three sections. You can take 1/3 or 2/3 of it out and make it basically an sl weight bike (just run it with less power), or keep it fully power for a quick after work ride that lasts 1 hour.
A modular approach would make the hole in the side smaller as well. Just a wild guess.
Probably aesthetics. The gen 3 has an enclosed downtube for weight, but easily removable battery via sliding out the bottom.
To make that work, the motor has to be rotated up, which people complain about it looking pregnant.
A side loading battery allows easy battery removal with a more traditionally mounted motor for better aesthetics, at the cost of a downtube with a big hole in the side.

THAT would be a killer app! Especially for SL riders like myself that are not gonna add 13 lbs just like that. This would be so much better than range extender which has many issues (rattle and cable errors, if you use too often it just becomes part of the bike weight, need more water on longer rides, want separate water bottle for energy mix, etc etc). Can even be split in half that's fine, I'd love to have 420wh internal with a powerful motor and an option to add 420wh more.
BUT I suspect that's not the gamechanger being discussed (the leaked spec sheets would've hinted something about that)

Is this the actual design of the G4?
I hope not as it looks very susceptible to being smashed in/on to rocks.
Top is current G3 bottom is G4. G4 looks about the same as any other emtb so don't imagine it will be an issue.

It’s definitely not as svelte as some other brands……….

Yeah, no kidding it not as small as the Amflow but it's comparable to any of the new Bosch bikes. I don't see it as being an issue.

Shape/size wise it's not that dissimilar to the previous generation Focus Jam2 (Bosch)

This was generally ok, but if you were riding in rock a lot a third party bash guard was advisable still (but you could say that with any bike).

Focus then copied Spesh and spun the motor to drop the battery, which created the horrible plough looking thing - so we can at least be thankful the Gen4 isn't like that !

The "shall not be named" bike is much more " is as you say, far more svelte ... but then people complain the chainring is exposed :)

I take it that the side load batt ? is so that it can comply with upcoming legals for EU that batts have to be ease to remove.

If that were true, wouldn’t all manufacturers have to do that?
Plus, it wasn’t hard anyway.

I can see you are already improving by adding the watermark. Didn't you get this picture from another forum tho? Or share with us more images :ROFLMAO:
That was a tongue in cheek bow down to the previous comments  . I'm sure anyone re-posting it will just delete it :) It's VERY similar to one previously posted here, but a different source, I blured it off a bit as we're behaving (or trying to)and not showing decent images.

Non-removable battery is apparently a deal breaker for about 1/3 the people on this thread 🤷‍♀️

A little trip down memory lane .. Will the nick name version of Turd brown bowling ball take over from any official naming ?
This can be one of the cases where images don't show the actual accurate color and it looks amazing in person. The thing that I want to know is who was the guy that looked at this design and said ... YEAH it's exactly this that the customer will love.

Plus a none wireless remote - deal breaker 40%

Wired Remote - deal breaker 20%

None hybrid remote (wired for power, but wireless communication) - deal breaker 10%

Side removal battery - deal breaker 30%

Over 100nm power - deal breaker 20%

Under 110nm power - deal breaker 18%

Must have fast charge in 6.2 seconds, but with the option to limit to only 20% charge or deal breaker 12%

No in frame dentist mouth wash dispenser - deal breaker - 88%

Over 18kg's with Fox 38's, 840wh battery,DH tyres - DEAL BREAKER !

Saddle not available in matching turd brown - deal breaker 50%

I think if you add them all up, it looks like everyone's buying an Amflow or a Vala (sorry if I've missed off the other personal choices, I've forgotten them all).

I think that almost fits here, but we're on the cusp of people saying "But it's got a great personaility..."

Riding in the UK, I want to get rid of the derailleur, cassette and chain. Plus here’s an idea how about just being able to wash the crud of a drive belt. Or even shaft drive 😂. No lubing, chain checking, indexing gears. Don’t get a Specialized wet though 😳
Think I might be holding on to my Gen 3 (love that bike) for a while if ever that appears 🤔
Did ride a mates, bike that shan’t be named last week, impressive power.
Loving the thread excited to see what they do with the Gen 4. It better be good after reading all these pages…

I've yet to see an MGU bike that appeals to me but the concept.......well, it's a no brainer in so many ways.

Haven't heard anything good about efficiency though......or weight.

Fangirl pissflappage #35678 on page 114
bowling balls like to get polished
perfect for the fangirl when their turkey teeth need a clean same time as the bike

I’m glad my original post is coming full circle.

We’ve got the am flow and vala comparison’s and a few “I’m going keep my gen 3 I’ve done this..etc etc to it”
