Looks that way. The "exclusive to Sworks bike and framesets" suggests it's not just a software change. The Sworks appears to be missing a mounting lug compared to the standard also.
Here’s a thought about Game changing , could it be the batteries ** so if the6 made the batteries hotswopable you could in theory put a 240 watt battery in to ride the extremely short jump or flow run days say 1 hour of riding atbsub 20 Kgs then if you want just bomb a 600 watt battery ontop of the 240 almost modular power network to give you 840 for the long run days

That's already been confirmed, but the motor only runs at half power when only running on the extender

I personally think the power of the motor is via software & only bikes with an S-works serial number will be capable of unlocking the s-works tune.

So the motor will be linked to a bike & unless that bike has an s-works unique code the motor will be locked down to the base power level.

That allows any motor to be put in any bike saving a lot on spares of different types.

What do you mean hot-swappable batteries? Isn't it easy enough to change them now?

Game changer would be 2kg battery with 800Wh very close to motor ;)
The rest is very ok anyway.
Who needs more power or more torque? Maybe if you like to race on a tarmac ? (There is specialized tarmac for that).
If they double the mileage from a motor, that would be amazing (in the current one sprag bearing or belt dies after ~4kkm)

if we can assume that the motor works more efficiently at 65-85% of max power output or so, that could still benefit you range-wise :)

Hotswop is you go riding with a 240 watt battery , it’s gets to 40. % you then grab your 600 watt battery and pop it on top to give you extra range and power or visa versa

Is it possible that the bike comes with the 600wh battery and 240wh in tube range extender as standard and that makes up the "840wh battery" listed on the spec? That would be perfect imo. You essentially get a full fat and SL bike in one in that case considering the bike runs at half power off the range extender alone.

I also think this can be the case ... But I've also heard that larger battery + extender will make 1000wh+ so I'm confused here a bit ... Some crazy idea, but what if there is a room for 2 extenders on top of 600wh? If not all in the downtube, maybe 1 extender goes into the downtube and the second extender into the bottle cage? Because charging port is now in similar location as on SL where extender goes into the bottle cage ...

2 Battery options plus add on.
840 stock across the board.

But where does this extender go?? Its huge! 🤯

Extender for SL which goes into the bottle cage is 160wh, how can you fit in almost twice the capacity??? Something does not add up here ... I refuse to believe these image is even real ... Also I'm pretty sure extender will fit into the downtube beside the main battery ...

it's only a bike :) , I think i'll get on with riding , whether it's 840 wh , 1000 wh, a big range extender , a motor made of titanium and driven by a very small nuclear fusion reactor , it will still have 2 wheels , a chain and frame , gears and bars :) and be the best thing ever , until next year :)

I think you mentioned the possible elephant in the room. With this extra power I can see an increased rate of chain & cassette usage. That will be the next item to deal with in an upcoming facelift model or the Gen 5 Levo.

Increased usage will probably be the catalyst for the MGU to come on stream next next gen.

You are correct.
According to a tester they only got 600km from the XX cassette on the s-works version. (im sure it was hammered pretty hard during testing) but it makes me want to perhaps switch to Linkglide .... but I notice the S-works frame has no cable ports.

Another crazy idea: what if the second extender option will be actually a current SL extender which is also 48V? This would make a main battery 600wh + internal extender 240W + external extender 160w = 1000wh 🤔
I really cannot imagine 280wh extender to fit into the bottle cage ...

So just checking with a chap that has ridden it. Now has 8 different modes of tune on the app, the fast charger is an after market option. The new motor has been tuned to offer a more broader range of power than the DJI one. The bike can also be used without a battery connected in case it runs out.

I'd be most interested in this as I find the DJI to have a really broad range of power but more importantly control over that power.......its like no bike I've had or tried before. It really is it's secret, not he headline figures.

On the downtube, likely with a fidlock mount or similar.
On the SL it goes onto the downtube replacing water bottle, but SL extender is only 160wh ...

You don't need to look at the gen4 on FB - Just READ the thread here.

The smoke has long since blown away - Hence why your posts were deleted (You were notified) as they were the 7th Duplicate.

Just a quick recap for those that think this thread is just one active page and all previous pages are old news.

Let's not be naive, the phased release of these photos was authorized by Specialized, otherwise a photo of the critical side, the side with the "door" for placing the battery, would have been included in this set.

You can believe all you want, doesn't stop you being wrong...

Here's a pic of a Bosch Powermore 250Wh extender on a bike;

if you will not ride only in full turbo mode, it will last long.
