I saw this clip on YouTube last night. Francis from E-MTB Review says Canyon is now offering *additional* compensation for those who didn't receive their batteries by March.

At 12'42", he talks about this.

Just received my 720Wh battery today and a cool 1200ish euro a few days ago. Not bad as my original battery looked unaffected, so I kept riding it…. Until the bike got stolen in October (without the battery inside lol). So, now I have two 720Wh batteries and no bike. Anyone interested in cheap 2x (or just the new one) battery? Otherwise it’s just a really heavy paperweight here 🥲
Worst case I’ll just send it back to Canyon and ask for a 0 euros refund I guess

Hi everyone, looks like Spectral and Strive :ONs are again available now for selling with a totally renewed battery which seems to address all the issues we faced. Aluminium case and several other changes as well as different capacity, 800Wh with different cells. This concerns me as probably our replacement batteries do not address the original problem which I believe is something only time will tell us.

I also saw that the selling price has dropped significantly.
This will significantly reduce the value of the used bike.
It's a problem!

By the way, I received the battery a little over a month ago, but I still haven't received the "compensation" transfer, as promised last July.
I hope they haven't run out of money. Help!!!

That's strange - I would contact them if I were you. From what I understand (it was certainly in my case), they were transferring the money the moment of shipping the battery, which was also my case.

… I had to contact them and provide my bank details again (they had had them previously since I had received the initial compensation payment OK). After that, payment was pretty prompt.

Seen that canyon are now selling torques again with an aluminium battery instead of the plastic cased one. I have the new battery, was given a 900wh, instead of the 720wh, which is considerably heavier, has anybody been able to buy the latest Alu housed battery as i was looking to get a second battery for bike.

If you want a spare 720wh then I can send you two, if you cover the shipping cost - my bike was stolen before canyon shipped me the replacement, so I have two very heavy paperweights 🥲 (the “old” battery had no signs of damage so I kept using it)

So canyon sourced and got a new battery designed which is an apparent improvement on the one they claimed was dangerous, and now using that as a marketing strategy to sell the remaining stock of bikes. I cannot believe they didn’t send these out to current customers. It’s an absolute mistake which has made my decision to never buy a bike from them again. Which is a shame because the bike rides excellently.

Not to mention the new battery is 800wh so would’ve been a nice sweetener for us with the 720wh to keep us happy

Maybe Canyon should atleast sell the new battery to existing customers at a discounted price. Seeing the amount of b*ll that we all have had to go through. The 900wh battery weighs a ton. Cant exactly sell the bike now for decent price as they have discounted the hell out of the remaining stock. Maybe i should just take the hit, sell my spez levo sl comp carbon and my canyon and put the money toward another forever bike, one that looks similar in colour, that way the wife doesnt notice🤣🤣

Which ever way you look at it, Canyon have shafted their customers and no slick PR video will prove otherwise.
Felt the same when I watched that vid. On one hand, good for Canyon to make a few folks available for interview. On the other, whoa -- touting the significant price drop isn't awesome. Especially considering that some folks have the replacement "old-fixed" style battery vs. the fancy new aluminum encased one.

I really liked how my Spectral:ON rode but I have zero regret for jumping ship at the beginning of the battery shenanigans.

Biggest POS i have rode. I do like it when it works, but the headset is a pain and squeaks, but the shutting off while riding is a pain. Some days it shuts off 5 times on a ride. Others it wont shut off. But in 2 years im on 3rd motor, 2 batteries and 4 Rosengurger cables under warranty, and it still is unreliable

The drive unit cutting out is precisely why I returned it to Canyon. I was fed-up with that and the battery thing enabled the return so that was the route I went (prior to the battery stop-ride, I had tried to return it beyond the return window but Canyon refused; after the battery problems, they agreed).

Been hunting batteries for the Torque. It would appear that i can buy the new ally battery( Canyon shops online) in every other country bar the Uk. Even contacted Canyon and they have said that they dont sell them in Uk. WTF. Seriously pi##ed off.
