I wanted to change the regular freehub from my Pro5 to the ebike specific freehub. Its made from stainless steel & has half the POE for more strength (54 instead of 108). I've looked online and ordered the HUB557. But when I installed it, ive noticed that the pawls engage offset, not all at the same time like it says on the website. When I further compared them they weight exactly the same. Steel vs aluminum. The steel body also wasn't magnetic, so it's probably aluminum I think.
So now I'm wondering if there was the correct freehub in the packaging from Hope.

Having both, the sound is very different from the 108 to the Ebike 54. The 54 sounds like the old Pro4's rather than the angry B's of the Pro5 standard.

Does the O in the Pro5 logo on the rear anodised hub body have the lightning bolt through the O?

are you referring to the hub or the freehub when you compare weight and whether it is magnetic or not?

regardless if you want a top quality Ebike hub and freehub go DT swiss Hybrid.

Only the freehub.

I'm still not clear whether you ordered the complete hub or just the freehub. There is no difference between ordinary Pro 5 and ebike pro5 hun. Only the freehub is different. The ebike version is steel not ally and all 6 pawls engage at the same time whereas on the ordinary pro 5 only 3 pawls engage at the same time. So sounds like you ordered the wrong hub or freehub whichever it was that you ordered.

Just the freehub, not the complete hub. I think there was the wrong freehub inside the package. I checked the site frome Hope & on the package it says: Ebike freehub.

Can't you just email Hope? There's something like an unmeasurable (for the home mechanic) 1.5 degrees between 3 of the pawls engagement angle difference (turning 54 poe into 108) and the stainless fh driver is probably austenitic stainless so it's not magnetic anyway. And how did you know all 6 aren't engaging at the same time it's not like you can see them?

I've mailed Hope but I haven't got a reply yet. When I installed the freehub and turned it you can see the pawls engage. You can see it when the seal is not on it.

If you can see such a small amount of rotation and rule out stiction at the bottom of a fh then your bloody superman . I'm done. Good luck

You can see the pawls move when you turn the freehub and they engage the ratchet ring. If you cant see that, I think you're bloody blind😉

Just take a look at the pawl springs if they have a cut then your freehub body was possibility switched out or something. The e-bike version has solid pawl springs.

It’s possible that the free hub was incorrectly packaged but I’d say wait until Hope gets back to you, they’re usually pretty quick responding to emails but it’s coming up to Christmas and I should imagine they will be super busy 👍
