Maybe I am looking back though rose coloured spectacles but I am sure my old Marzocchi 888 Triple Clamp fork (Speccy Demo) performed waaaaaay better than the fox 36 Fit4?

And I by that I mean low Speed sensitivity and plushness

can I get something similar in 27.5?

From memory the first 5cm of travel was super plush and soaked up all the small stuff effortlessly wheres as the Fox just bounces off similar stuff?

Has the 888 a coil inside? This would explain the better suppleness and better off the top sensitivity. An air spring will never match it. I don't really know about using a lighter oil but I bet there will be compromises.

You don't say which 888 you had but being coil sprung, longer travel and an open bath design they were more supple but a LOT heavier.
depending on the model some 888 dampers had less control and were prone to diving more than most modern trail forks.
if you had one of the budget/OEM 888s those also had a propensity to spike under hard hits.

The Fox 36 is available with different dampers too and Fit4 isn't the best damper for support or suppleness

Just do a Grip 2 cartridge swap. Very significant improvement. < $300 USD and about 10-15 minute job.
