Forbidden Druid - Avinox Powered

Has anyone here put in an order for the "not yet released or visible" proposed Forbidden eDreadnought in Australia??

I ask because I'm back in Oz and heading to the LBS later this week where I placed my order for the Core last year. As previously outlined, bike finally arrived just as I left of Canda in December for an extended stay and they subsequently moved the bike on as I had only paid the deposit.

Given my information from Forbidden is that all LBS's in Oz should have already ordered their bikes for the current year, just want to make sure I'm not shooting from the hip if they say the Dread-e is not yet available for order. I'm sure I read somewhere on this forum that some had already ordered the e-dreadnought from their bike shop here down under.

If they try to bullshite me, I'll ask for a refund and move on, either the Velduro Rogue or Atherton P170e... given that if the bike ain't already ordered and allocated, then there is little to no chance of getting one this year down here. Cheers.

Not sure if this is any help, but I have an order in Canada for the E-Dread. I have been told announcement should be Sea Otter timeframe. Delivery shortly after that, for the tier 2 build which is full fox factory 180mm front - 170mm rear, GX drivetrain. Top tier build would be fall with the new motor and top tire sram build. Geo looks like the same front triangle as the druid with the S3 having a 669 stack, 461 reach, and ~460 rear end. Looks like the bigger fork bumps up the stack with a bit shorter reach compared to the druid.

I am a bit nervous about the geo, but the thing should be extremely balanced, and in general a rocket ship.

Thanks. That sort of lines up with what Forbidden alluded to. I'm hoping my LBS has put aside an order for the dreadie for me (assuming they have access to an order here downunder). I'll find out shortly when I visit them later this week.

I'm a bit nervous about the shared front triangle as well.
My we are one arrival was a bag of compromises from trying to use the same front triangle in a 150mm and a 170mm application...

FYI, reached out to the crew over at Cascade Components earlier today inquiring about the possibility of a Cascade Link for the Druid CorE/LitE to bump up rear travel a bit- sounds like it is indeed on their radar however there is still not a ton of interest so far. Although the CorE feels like it has more travel than it actually does having a legit 160ish on the rear wouild be sick and I wouldnt need to spend more $ on a Dread-E. Drop them a note on their 'Submit a Request' and if enough riders reach out who knows maybe they'll fire up the CNC.... they already do a few different Links for the analog Forbiddens....

I'd be very surprised if Forbidden haven't thrashed the crap out of the e-dreadie over the past 2 years (I'm assuming they probably had both Druid and Dreadnought protypes in trial together). The reason I'm more optomistic about the Dreadie is that it's still been under test for the past 12 months and hopefully they will have ironed out any issue identified from testing and from feedback received from the eDruids that are now out in the public domain.

One would hope it will be a bit more refined due to lessons learned. If the front frame is the same, then I would assume they have trialled it hard and it is fit for purpose. On the otherhand, perhaps there are suble differences to account fo the greater travel and abuse that we are not yet aware of.

I'm not sure they actually run test mules.

Surely they would have have built prototypes of reach model and run them to work out the issues.
I believe the procedure is digital design, followed by commissioning of the molds, a few preproduction prototypes delivered, followed by a full production run.
Essentially, the e druids you saw reviewed last year were the preproduction samples, and the bikes we all waited forever for was the production run.
It's an efficient way to do things, but doesn't leave much room for change should the design not translate from desktop to reality the way one might hope. Luckily they know what they're doing when it comes to design.

Trigger pulled today at my LBS here in Oz...

  • eDreadnought
  • Tier 2 / S4
  • Large battery size (The LBS is bothering ordering the smaller battery for any of Forbidden eDruids or eDreadies)
  • Hopefully dropping Mayish this year....
FYI, I've created a Forbidden eDreadnought thread to channel discussions with this new model.

Hey Guys,
i asked my LBS and Forbidden Dealer to contact Forbidden for any news on the idler or better the bearing.
He got this answer:

- Decision to use 6903 instead of 6902 bearing because of the ebike
- solid lubricant for extended lifetime of the bearing
- solid lubricant was only available as MAX ABEC-5 Bearing by Enduro-Bearings
- No they are testing 61903 ABEC-5 solid lubricant (i guess not MAX): Goal: less rolling resistance and better suiting the idler
- still the 6903 MAX ABEC-5 has a good mileage of 2000-2500 km in a wide range of conditions
- The 61903 will come out maybe as an update in aftermarket (if tests prove it to be better).

I dont know why they didnt choose a SKF MTRX bearing - its Solid Lubricant and not MAX loaded and available in 6903 spec. 🤷‍♂️

guys, how many libre are you using on coil shox and your weight?
Hi Andrea, not exactly sure what you mean by libre (I'm guessing Italian which literally translates to 'free'), maybe implying sag or spring rate, if not please correct me. :)

I'm 145lbs (63kg) and use a Springdex at 490lb spring rate which is about 25% sag with a Rockshox Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil RCT2, and I love it.

I wanted to know what spring rate you have and how much you weigh... there are very different opinions among various users, so I'll use the Springdex, but I'm somewhere between the 430-500 and 490-560. I weigh 73-74 kg, dressed with a backpack.

I suppose the s3 considered medium? Im normally on a large, but Im somewhat amazed the reach is spot on with a 460 cs!!

I'm in-between large and medium, and I chose S2 which feels perfect for me. (176cm or just over 5' 9"). I believe Forbidden designed this bike to have slightly short reach and slightly taller stack than is typical for it's size. I chose S2 b/c I wanted it to be a bit more playful since it's already heavy and the CS grows so it will get more stable further in the travel anyway. Plus S2 geo was pretty close to previous bikes that I liked.

This just on Insty... just 3 more days and all will be revealed...one hopes!

What mileage is everyone getting out of the GX chains? Mine sounds dreadful in gear 1 and 2. Use muc off ceramic dry chain lubricants
