Review: I was a bit tired of riding around with fishbowls on my feet at the end of a ride due to puddles etc. in my std Freerider Pros.

I decided on the GTX

They have the stealth rubber to maintain grip levels of the Freeriders, but the upper is made of Goretex to keep the wet stuff out.
They also feature a Velcro strap at the top of the ankle so that water is less likely to come in from the leg area. This is what happens on the Freerider pro.

They are a bit narrower than the Freerider because they are designed more as a trail shoe. This is why I marked them down from full marks. I would have preferred a Goretex skate type design like the Freerider Pro.
It doesn’t really impact performance but you do feel the smaller surface area slightly. You soon get used to it though.

Performance out on the trail is awesome. It was raining throughout the 2 hour ride in Llandegla and my feet were bone dry. That with not avoiding most of the puddles.

The upper design is really good because it sheds mud and debri, keeping them fairly clean and easy to rub off.

Highly recommend these for the impending winter months!

I’ve had a pair of these for the past couple of winters and they’ve been fantastic, can’t rate them highly enough.
Worn with a pair of DeFeet Willie Boolie socks they’re nice and warm for 2-3 hours out in sub-zero temperatures.
