Extender battery?

You don't need to match system voltage. The Levo RE doesn't. Electric motors can operate on a wide range of voltages, and regularly do, as the voltage of these packs isn't constant. It drops as they discharge. I don't know exactly how combining a RE and main pack works, as it drains both simultaneously
5 cells would be 350wh and 18v that will not even turn on the motor😉

The operating range of 36v battery pack go from 42v fully charge to around 30-32v completely discharged and when at around 33v the motor cannot provide full power anymore. So it is impossible to use the same cells in a 5 series.

Running in parallel requires the same voltage (this is why you should start with both full) and same cells type, running in parallel different cells type is not good. This is why DJI switches and don’t work in parallel as RS600 and FP700 use vastly different cells.

My Giant also switches as soon as the main battery is drained it switches to the RE and to perform the switch it briefly cut power.

Will be interested to see what it is.. the RS600 extender sounds a bit messy, from what it sounds like will need a different charger to work with the new shape plug on the PR.
Never mind it only fits bigger frames and at 600wh is OTT for the majority.

Hopefully an FP330 RE battery will just plug straight in to a PX and use the same charger!

Hopefully whatever arrives will use a slimmer plug and connector as well because as it is now it won't work with my Forbidden as the cranks will catch the cable/plug/charging cover 🙄

While I'm not familiar with the setup of the Forbidden specifically, the charging cover situation is something that still seems like it could use some optimization, industry wide, to put it mildly. I'm not sure how long Bosch has had a range extender (my quick Google search indicates they only introduced them in 2023) so I guess it's a relatively new concept, but it seems like a big oversight for all of these motor providers to, in 2026, still be making charging ports that, while maybe OK for primary battery charging/sealing purposes, don't take into account the range extension use case. I think the spring loaded flaps should be both more robust, and be able to be locked into the full open position, so they are more out of harms way, and then the port should have some sort of seal around the outer rim that mates with the RE plug, to prevent dirt ingress even when the flap is open. I also think they should be located on the front of the seat tube, not the side, and the flap should open up, but with current designs that might create some other issues.
