Extender battery?

I don't see amflow on trustpilot. There are a bunch of amflow reps traveling to LBS right now pushing their bikes. They are really trying.

I talked to another rep this morning and he said they have no plans on an extender battery. I dont think anyone knows for sure. I think it's a huge disadvantage for them to not make an extender when so many companies like Bosch and Specialized have them.

In all my riding in the Royal National Park in Sydney. Which is every weekend. I don't remember seeing a single EMTB with an extender. So whilst those who use them see it as a disadvantage. It's a very small market that is being affected, IMO.

Factor in 800wh batteries, the super fast charging, and the advent of inverter batteries like Ecoflow, and I really don't see Avinox producing the Extender. For me the Ecoflow is far better than an extender, because I can use it for more than just the EMTB.

I take the Ecoflow on Park Days, when I'm just using the EMTB as a shuttle. Stopping for lunch you can easily add 400wh. That makes it a 1200Wh day. And I am definitely cooked after using over 1000Whs.

Currently, most manufacturer fitting an Avinox Motor is selling out their frames. So I don't see Avinox rushing to produce an expensive accessory, with a very small market.

I'm looking at the 600Wh battery, which is now available as a spare, to loose some weight. And fit the 800Wh on longer rides. It's a much cleaner setup than running an external battery.

Where I live we do huge back country rides. I know of 4-5 guys that would buy an amflow if they offered an extender. We do 35-40 mile rides and 8000 ft of vertical climbing. There is no way to charge your bike when you are 20+ miles from civilization. Every biker I know either carries an extra battery or has an extender. We all mostly ride in eco or auto(-). I guess its all area specific and how you use the bike. Here are a few pics of our rides.

I emailed Amflow and they said, no plans. I asked the Amflow rep and he said, soon. Who knows? I bought a Levo and an extender. Screw Amflow if they can't answer their customers.
 
I'm not quite sure how any extender would work without putting the charging door at risk of getting torn off as well as concerns about water intrusion.

The mark 1 extender will work fine, their legs!
it seems a lot of the people who complain really want an electric motorcycle.
The point of an E-MTB is assistance, regardless of elevation you either pedal more or you're expecting too much, I look at it as acoustic+ and would rather be cycling in 1st with 100w of assistance than 5th with 500w

Not sure what you mean. An extender is useful if you are doing longer journeys and more elevation. Not needed all time but nice to have if needed. Not sure want you mean by cycling at 1st with 100 W than 5th with 500 W. What’s that about.

Go slower and use less assistance, as an example say you can put out 100w indefinitely, pedalling in 1st at 4mph takes 200W, meaning the bike is only putting out 100W
The same hill in 5th at the same cadence is 8mph and takes 600W, so the bike has to apply 500w of that, the total energy required increases in a non-linear relationship with speed.

Very simplified, you may take 5 minutes in 1st and use 500 watt total, in 5th you’d take 2.5 minutes and use 1250 watts,
so if the bike had 10,000 watts of capacity, the first example would last for 100 minutes and get you 6.6 miles
The second example would last for 20 minutes and get you 2.6 miles but you’d cover those 2.6 miles in just over half the time of the first rider.
 
Injured my hammy at Squash last night. Travelling away for a big adenture this weekend. My options are to lower my seat and turn the boost up and ride, to protect the hammy, or cancel the weekend. It's times like this I wish there was an extender.

Obviously I'm going to ride regardless. :ROFLMAO: I just hope I don't run empty. It will be a very long limp back ....... ;)

I average a charge cycle every 80 miles or so, I'm 120kg, I'd rather go down gears than turn the bike up, my thinking is on an acoustic bike you'd have no choice so until I'm down in gear 1 or 2 I don't turn it up, otherwise I turn it up if I can't get the speed in the run up to a jump.
Maybe if I was time limited somewhere and wanted to get a lot of runs in I'd turn it up but I've never been in that situation

Miles mean nothing to me. I could ride over 100 miles on a single charge on flat ground. How much vertical in a ride? There is no way you'd get 80 miles out of a single charge where I live. You would be lucky to get 25-30 miles. We live at 3000ft and our mountains are 8000ft to 9000ft tall. Then when you get to the top, the trails go on for days if you have the legs and batteries. On a regular bike you push and carry for 1/2 a day just to get to the top. Since you don't know what trails people ride, please don't say pedal more or turn your bike down or you need a motorcycle or get in better shape. :)

Fundamentally you’re trying to do more than the bike and you are capable of, this isn’t a product issue, it’s an expectation issue, as you said, analog bikes take half a day or get a lift up.

Ultimately an e-bike gives you more capacity but it’s limited by being a bicycle and with that comes design decisions that are constrained by the product.

Again, you’re expecting too much, either get a lift to the top or reduce your expectations to what is realistic for you and the bike.

Haha. "Get a lift up". There's no lift up unless you have a helicopter. We don't ride roads. We are way back in. Again you have no clue.

You still didn't answer my question as to your vertical in a ride?

Id like to see you climb our trails and use no battery.

On a more helpful note (hopefully) have you considered taking a Powerstation up with you like a jackary/dji/etc? With a portable solar panel I think you’d get a decent amount of electric, split the load amongst a few of you and you’ve got a way to get a charger to the top?
Did the US get the fast chargers or the 4amp chargers?
I’m sure the solar would nearly keep up with a 4 amp as it’s only 170w ish, the 4-amp are small enough to fit in the frame bag too

Our climbs are so steep and technical that there is no way to carry anything to the top. Solar charging would be so slow. It's not happening.

I have a G4 Levo and an extender so Im good for another season. I was gonna buy the Amflow on sale this week. No promise of an extender helped me and my buddies make decisions on new bikes. Now that the Bosch system has the 250wh power more they are all set. Another buddy carries an extra Levo battery. Amflow lost out on selling 4 bikes to me and my buddies. If they make an extender in the future I'll defiantly buy one. I get a new bike every 1-2 years as the motors just don't last me. Im on my 8th Levo.

I’ll take a light bike, an 800wh battery, no rattles, fast charging, and a high level of configurability over an extender.

I won't buy a bike without an extender... especially if the main battery is not removable on the trail.
