Hi, I have a 2019 XL carbon comp, the dropper post is a Specialized command post and is 30.9mm, there is also a sleeve inside the seat tube post, i am looking to get a new dropper, do I need to get a dropper that is the same size diameter to accommodate the sleeve or can I do away with the sleeve and get a larger diameter dropper I.e 31.6m? (Not sure of the actual without the sleeve as I haven’t measured it yet) thanks

Ok have done a bit of research and measuring, so my internal tube diameter is 34.9mm and I’m looking at a new dropper that has a diameter of 31.6mm…….so do I just buy a new shim? (Not a sleeve :))

I've got both, 34,9mm and 30,9 with shim on the other bike, so far the only difference I can see is the thinner does save some weight. I think thats also the reason SP put 30,9 on high end models and 34,9 on basics

thanks for that, so I just need a shim to go from 34.9 to 31.6 instead of the one that is on the bike which is a 34.9 to 30.9?

you can buy a 30,9 one to use with your existing shimmer
or you can buy a 34,9 to use without shimmer
or you can buy a 31,6 dropper and a new 34,9-31,6 shimmer

by the way, I personally will choose 30,9 instead 34,9, the 34,9 Reverb AXS looks really thick, thinner one looks more slim, of course weigh less, and I didnt find any loose move or crack with the shimmer.

I have a 2019 large Carbon Comp, but mine came with an X-Fusion 34.9 dropper with fitted. Interesting that yours came with a shim, I thought it wasn't recommended, but if Spesh use them it must be okay. I've been looking for a 180 dropper which are limited in the sizes available in 34.9, so using a shim would open up what can be used.

I purchased the bike used, but as far as I am aware the dropper is original. I did wonder if the carbon comp had to be shimed to strengthen the carbon, but I guess you have answered my question (y)
