It is a different market to the drones for sure as batteries in that world are a consumable but on them they are hyper aggresive against the use of non genuine DJI batteries.
So much so when 3rd parties have made compatible packs they have updated firmware to block them.
They even block repair of older packs as their BMS even detects when cells have been changed by big changes in capacity on an older battery and bricks it. All for "safety" obviously (Don't ask how I know lol)
Allowing 3rd party battieries is intresing as it breaks the "system" approach and I wonder how they deal with the performance impacts that could come from that with lower quality C rated packs.
Intresing and surprising for sure.
If they really wanted to upset things DJI could make adapters for use with Bosch Batteries and a Bosch compatible conversion kit and it's game on
