DH World Cup thread

Racing is back! IXS Portugal this weekend. It doesn't look especially challenging by world cup standards but there's a few big dogs in the mix, could give an insight into who's hot. There's a golden ticket thing for the top three elite & junior riders to get into the world cup proper. Not sure how that works if it works out to be existing racers on the box but we'll see.
And welcome back Finn Iles
Any riders with current entry to WC are removed from the golden ticket. So its the first 3 riders who need it that get them.

We've not gone to Portugal sadly due to some family reasons at home.
We're at the National dh ne t weekend though.
WCs are still up in the air as he's a Reserve rider for 2026 currently. Last year 3 reserves got called up for various races but they're very short notice so currently we don't know if he'll get a WC.
So for now his job is to do as well as possible in UK and other IXS races to make sure if a space comes up, its his. But that's a lot harder than you'd think as they're all super fast.
Over in the IXS today in seeding 2 Youth riders beat a lot of the Elites, that's the level things are at.
Figured it would have to be, otherwise it doesn't make sense.
True, the U19 winner would have been second in the men's category, just behind Jordan Williams

Jordan is back! Fin, maybe but what's caught my eye is Jenna Hastings has been mopping up around the pre season races, I wrote her off a while back, will be interesting to see if she can mix it with the big girls come next month after seasons of injuries & indifferent performances.
Yeah but shes done that in a few previous pre seasons.
Jordan won the BPW Not-a-race day as well, which obviously again isn't a WC, but he's going well that's for sure.
I offered to create one last year & it didn't get past Q2.
This year I think I'll just create it, share the deets & people can jump in if they want but you'll need your A game to beat me - 2842nd in 2025.
Considering how much i follow DH, i'm remarkably rubbish at picking winners at any given race, in general i give them a curse. I've had to remove and stop picking Ethan Craik as his mechanic shouted at meI offered to create one last year & it didn't get past Q2.

Bloke in P3 is/was the GB WC team mechanic, he's now the Cube factory racing mechanic. He was gutted not to win and 1 crash made all the difference.
Do you have any relationship advice for any of this years riders ? In the interest of assisting with any issues within their personal lives which may affect their in season performance ?

The family went to the first 2 big USDH races of the year, Tennessee Nationals and Pro Series at Rock Creek. These races had some of the most riders ever. I think Tennessee Nationals had 200 Cat 1 riders.

Pinkbike are working on the league as we speak. I'd expect something to be up soon.

Ive got a Fresh Hop beer bus trip on Saturday so I'll have to watch in the evening once I make it home.
Surprisingly, not as expensive as I thought it'd be. Especially when you consider that a NZ dollar is currently trading at 11.2p or 7.9c per dollar.
Highlights for me, the races will be 3-5am UK time, so as much as I love the racing & 20 year old me would have made a night of it, fat old me will be tucked up in bed dreaming of Warner screaming LOOK AT THE TIME! as I snatch the win from Bruni by three whole seconds.
