Damp on the TCU

This is what my Spec shop spray on all the contacts and TCU when a bike leaves the shop ... they have not had any returns ..

guy told me it creates a thin film that stops water getting in .... Snake oil ? perhaps ...but worth trying.

Might be useful around the TCU connections, i'm not sure i'd spray it on the battery terminals though; isn't the advice to keep those dry as possible.

Any other shops / workshop techs using this for Levos/Kenevos?

I only had lubricated condoms, so I made a gasket and sealed my TCU with Sugru instead:

Might just be, but I can't see your pictures. Sometimes if they're copy/pasted it maintains the source link so if they're not publicly viewable, you will see them, but no one else can. I normally download them and then add them using the insert picture icon. It's a faff, but works consistently ?

could you not just put some silicon sealer on the tcu ? and where it screws onto the frame ? that way you can peel it off if you need to. Sugru seems like such a permanent solution .. ?

I never had to remove Sugru before but my understanding is that it's easy to remove it completely.

hope so ... I use it on my chain stay protectors and its it very hard living.

For $3 duct sealant seems to be a good way to keep water out. Where the wires go in and out of the TCU, it can be worked into there much better than electrical tape. I also dressed along the edges of the TCU after I took the picture (arrow). It was easy to apply and can be cleanly pulled off also.

this seems like a great idea...is it working? I'd buy some of that if you think it is a good fit.

I just had my tcu replaced, now when I wash it I use some extra wide electrical tape over it , it moulds perfectly around the unit and makes it water tight/splash proof and easily peels off after.

i was thinking the same idea, when I was my bike I'll just cover the TCU.

Perfect! This makes total sense. I'm not keen on covering the TCU itself with bundles of tape.
