Crestline RS 181.2 thread – builds, reviews, technical info

Hi all

Waiting for my forge edition. Frame set.
It’s being delivered to a friend in the US. I will be travelling over from UK in July and will bring g it back with me.

Didn’t t realise that flying with the battery is a no no. SO. If anyone wants an 800w battery for a bargain price. Please let me know.
Define bargain price

Does anyone have information on the Reserve 30 carbon wheels that come on the Speed Shop Team Edition Complete bike?
I noticed in the description it specifies an HD front and DH rear, you can check reservewheels.com for full specs.

Third ride on the bike. Still having some lingering stuff post surgery but figured I’d upload my current thoughts after selling my amflow. I’m very happy with the bike and surprised at how I don’t feel I’m missing anything as far as climbing and turning from the amflow. That said I still stand by the amflow being a super fun bike and I’d recommend it to anyone. My Zeb/vivid is still not setup great and needs work so should be even better when I get that sorted

Amflow was 49lbs if I remember correctly with Zeb, DD tires, ext coil. Crestline is 51 lbs. feels similar when riding. Not really noticing the weight.

The squeak noise is the center e13 dust cap. It’s not compatible on here but I left it on due to being lazy. I’ll take it off soon. The little plastic crank end caps are totally fine. They seem like they’d rattle but I don’t hear them when riding. I do hear the hub clank occasionally and of course the derailleur. Motor still silent.

Stock auto feels literally the same as m1. Turbo is better. I’m always in auto though. I’d be totally happy with m1 again as well.

Mavens have been annoying. I’ve set them up before no issue. This set has been a headache. Piston massage, everything by the popular YouTube videos bleed process. Re-did it multiple times now and finally got them feeling ok. Even the front had so much air in them from factory. The hs2 rotors both have a visual wobble to them that hits the pads both sides. Sent one back because it was so bad. Second one is better but can just visually see both front and rear wobble and it chiming the pad on both sides. Have never had this with new rotors. Torqued properly cross pattern. They feel good now, but was a road to get here lol. And sram should freaking massage these things before sending them out for how much they are.

I’ll keep updating especially as my surgical area keeps feeling better I’ll get more sendy.

Just a guess but it looks similar to the plugs that Brose uses to cover unused ports on the Brose motor of my Levo. I realize that this was in the skid plate and the plugs are inside the enclosed motor but it's possible it's been sitting in there since it left the factory.

No, I found out what it was. There is a short accessory cord, (approx 3”) with a plug input that goes into the display and that little piece fits over the cable end to plug it up when it’s not being used. I think it must’ve come off in the top tube while riding and made its way to where I found it. I put it back on and secured the cord with tape to the bottom of the display so it won’t happen again. All good. 👍🏼

I ordered a shuttle guard and additional drop outs on Friday...the email update I received from Troydon on Monday was that the frames will start shipping near the end of this week and that my RH2 will come with a 450 lb spring (of course, I think I will need a 550 lb).
My Fedex account tonight shows that a Label was created for a 30 lb box from Troydon...

I ordered a wheelset that is still being built, so dammit, I might have to wait to have my frame built up.

FYI, I got my Fedex notification way before the bike actually shipped (for the Plaid run). Not a big deal, but it seems the labels are created in advance of actually getting shipped. Just to temper expectations a little bit ;)

I just got another status update message from FedEx…We have your package…Expected delivery Saturday June 20 before end of day.

Does anyone know what size seat clamp the 181.2 uses? I know the seat post size, but I’d like to add a little color with a different seat collar clamp. Just don’t know what size to get.

I'm using a 34.9mm Oaks Components Seat Post Clamp on my Crestline S180. It should be the same size as RS181.2 since they both run a 31.8mm diameter dropper post.

Sram Power Cable… does anyone have one they don’t intend to use? Mine was damaged upon arrival and doesn’t work. Sadly we can’t get a new one as Sram is saying October. Hoping the Crestline community is kind and is willing to help me out. I’m in California.

Sorry to hear about your power cable! Presuming you're referring to the AXS battery power cable that connects directly to your motor? If so, you can buy another wired battery for a Bosch or Shimano motor and splice it to an Avinox compatible cable. I did this for my Crestline S180. Had a wired AXS battery for an EP8 motor and bought a Bosch Headlight cable and spliced it. Works perfectly!
