Cassette coating flaking off?

Has anyone seen this before?

One ring only has the coating flaking off.
I know it's a perishable item but this was 60mls old.

It is not going to get better is it?

I have. Normally only female riders have it, but it's a common problem when people use hair care products to look after their bikes.

It looks like the bike cassette/chain was still wet when you left it last, either from washing or riding and something started to oxidise. They trap moisture and stay wet for quite a long time - ideally give it a nice gentle blow dry at the end.

Xt cassette btw, I usually use six but this is all they had.
