Backpack Essentials

Need to re-stock some new bits n prices ahead of new bike arrival. What essential things do you take out on those monster rides?

Thinking I might need some chain links and multi-tool...

No backpack for a start

take exactly the same spares/tools as you did on your regular mtb rides

Multitool with chain tool, tube, pump, shock pump, cereal bars, carb gels, puncture repair kit, usually a first aid kit but think that's empty now.

If it's a long day out, I add a lightweight waterproof.

I've never ridden with a shock pump other than to set-up a new shock/fork.
There's always one in the car, one at work and one in the house though.

You’ll definitely need a backpack for a monster ride, if you’ve got a spare battery and like to keep hydrated.

Spare mech hanger, I've never needed to use it yet but no doubt the day I don't take it will be the day I need it.
