Anybody with the M2s have a rattle?
Mine started rattling on the second ride, it does it while coasting over rough ground anything from small chatter to large roots. I can replicate it by holding the rear wheel & moving the crank or pulling the chain slightly.
Definitely sounds like backlash in the gears somewhere. I thought Avinox had sorted this.

Interesting anecdotal experience, especially after a second ride. I tested the M2S on two 3-day brutalized test bikes at Sea Otter and found no rattle after really struggling to coax it (The M2 had clear rattle in comparison). Neither has it shown up in any official review testing, but only after the motor is in the populus can any normative statistical significance be applied to our different experiences. But it's at least worth surveying what other are experiencing here as the months wear on.
 
Mrs levity and I have Avinox M2S equipped bikes (Pivot Amp’d), and they’ve been “TQ quiet” so far. We have about 200 miles on them about half on rough terrain in the Moab/Canyonlands area. We’re Happy Campers 🤗

That kind of slop has to indicate a malfunction of the tension mesh gear. I would consider this a warranty issue but let's hope Mondraker would agree. Mondraker should swap out the motor and send it back to Avinox to run some forensics on it.

You seem to be a Bosch component seller. Which M2S bike did you get ?

Have you checked your rear axle hasn't come loose ? Would explain both the rattle and speed sensor error. Loose rear axles was a common issue when the Amflow first came out. It was the first bolt I put a Torque Wrench on. Though there was a speed sensor issue as well, which was resolved.

Doddy just did a video with Rob about the Mondraker. Those bikes are assembled at their European head office and the quality control is very thorough. Doddy would be very interested to hear these issues you are having. I would take it straight back to the LBS.

Iain Richards bought the same bike and has posted videos that he is having a very positive experience.

Hey Rob - I tried this on each of our Pivot Amp’d bikes, and the chain won’t move back and forth at all. No rattle like you observe. As @slickrock suggested above you may have a defective M2S motor. Let us know how Avinox warranties this.

I got a PX carbon, after the first ride i heard something around the motor area, replaced the Magura brakes with Saints because they rattle like a snake (both the pads and levers), but it turns out, the motor also rattle. Not as loud as Rob's one, but it seems its getting louder.

M2S motored bikes are very hard to come by at the moment. So being a Bosch guy, seemed odd you already got one. But it's great you have the Amflow PX. Great bike.

Shame you are having an issue. Sounds like the mesh gear is not working properly. Hopefully they can sort the problem. That is one of the downsides of being an early adopter. It does take the first few owners to be Guinea Pigs as they iron the bugs out.

That’s the first thing I checked when it came up with the fault & all is good, it’s an intermittent fault which happens a few times on a ride, I’m thinking the cable could’ve been pinched somehow on assembly.
I’m in contact with the shop at the moment & they are waiting to hear back from Mondraker.

I don't think its a malfunction of the springloaded gear layer. This gear is only one of three gear intersections so there are still 2 remaining for making rattling noises...

How would you know that without opening up the motor? The mesh gear was called out by Avinox to explicitly and completely address motor rattle. By saying rattling is happening somewhere else is asserting that Avinox has an inadequate design / faulty design rather than a sample failure of the mesh gear itself. Occam's Razor would say the latter.

A small minority still rattle. The source has not been identified. How about we see if warranty see's the issue resolved, or see if the issue runs deeper, rather than start another Avinox flame war.
 
Did you check the chainring to see if it may have loosened?

Yes, I have the same rattle in my M2S.
I noticed it abruptly start halfway through my second ride.
I can make the same noise as you do by wriggling the chainring forward and back.
I took the motor out, then with my hands I held the motor together with the cranks and chainring to try to isolate it, and shock it, there is something loose making a nocking inside the motor, kind of heavy feeling.
I’m sure I heard what sounded like a bolt come loose and rattle around in the frame while riding, but it may have been a stone. I’m not opening the motor up to see what’s wrong because it will void warranty.
I’m working with my bike shop to sort it.

I have been in contact with the shop for the last 2 weeks & they seem reluctant in doing anything, they said it’s just free play before the motor kicks in. I have tried explaining to them the there should be no rattle on the M2s with their new dual mesh system.
I have contacted Mondraker direct & all they said was to go through the shop & no warranty claim has been raised on my bike.
I have sent the video directly to Avinox last week but not heard anything back yet.
I also have a speed sensor fault the comes intermittently which also happened on the second ride & there are no speed sensors in stock anywhere.
Bike had done less than 20 miles before it went wrong nearly 3 weeks ago & I’m nowhere near any signs of getting it fixed yet.
 
Don’t take no for an answer. Keep posting on here and any other socials you’re on, about progress. Stay factual and measured in your updates. Don’t let it seem that you’re an unreasonable customer. Avinox advertise this new motor as rattle free. That makes a rattle a fault and should be sorted out under the warranty. You are in the right.

this, lean on brands to honor their warranties through legit Social interactions, IMO this forces brands to do right to limit any possible damage, especially to a new-to-market product.
It really helps to gather and share other peoples posts about the same issue.

Im going to go out on a positive with canyon and trek, They've Dealt with any issues before I've even thought about posting the issue online.
 
This seems like a dealer issue and your dealer not taking care of you.

This isn’t Avinox letting you down (well, as far as warranty goes). Bosch has the same exact process on warranties that you must go through the dealer specifically stated in the Bosch claims paperwork. So I wouldn’t expect much from emailing Avinox directly beside them also telling you to go to the dealer. You just need to harass your dealer to make something happen for you. Maybe have one of them ride your bike then if they have a demo M2s back to back. See the rattle for themselves.
