Avinox M2

I'm unsure why we have all this doubt......I was under the impression we all knew the same things.
M2 is a cheaper, slightly heavier unit for entry level bikes, and M1 is getting an update and a little more power.

I'm not sure why people think DJI/Avinox would sit back on their laurels and let the other brands catch up....better tighten the screw I'd say.
DJI could keep their present design and motor the same for 3 years and other brands still would not catch up. EMTB motor producers are generally very slow to update their motors if you haven't noticed.

I jumped on the holiday sale in the US. When I saw it at $8,599 for the Pro Carbon I added to cart immediately. Sure enough after Jan 1 it went back up to $10,199. The word is Amflow sold in excess of 50,000+ bikes since it was released. Yes, companies like Specialized sell way more but rarely a number like that on one model only. After 250 miles of desert riding I am very happy with the bike. The Magura brakes were a challenge until I decided just to do a full bleed and now they are perfect.

I don’t think Avinox needs to come out with an M2 motor right now. They are at the top of the performance ladder compared to everyone else. I’m sure they have a new motor well into development but let folks like Bosch respond before releasing anything new.

Of course Avinox doesn’t need to adhere to a yearly cadence, but there is a new iPhone every year too. That’s the new reality.

It seems that in the United States, you're completely out of touch with the latest Amflow news! Here in Europe, we all know the new engine is coming! It will be available by April at the latest, and it will be more powerful. And that's not just a rumor…

Just found one retailers in Aus fairly close to me has now dropped the price to $12499 aud which is $8,391.83 usd...so tempted but with a new motor just around the corner i feel i would be doing myself a dis-service if i didn't at least hold off a bit longer and confirm the specs of this new motor first. But that may mean waiting far longer than i intended for updated Amflows to arrive here when i could be having fun on what is already a great bike...hmmm Actually personally i would wait but it's my misses cracking the whip telling me to hurry up and buy lol

I really don’t care if they come out with a new motor in April or whenever. The M1 is practically the newest motor in the EMBT world anyway. More power to them 👍

Just wait for a while because when the new motor comes out there will be another one in the pipeline….and then another….and then another.

I've heard the current M1 rattles (on some, not all) - M1 v2 (identified by stiff crank rotation) has had a snug rubber gasket added to minimize spindle play/movement (cause of rattle apparently). The M2 design is meant to diminish/negate rattle, as I've heard. We'll see...I'm hopeful, my last Gen4 Bosch rattled, ruined the feel of the ride really.

I expect that larger discounts will become available after the new bikes are released.

Very interested to see who's right... Those who believe the M2 is the new top-tier Avinox; or those who believe the M2 is a new economy Avinox.

There will be two motors regardless, does it really matter which one is labelled M1 or M2?

Of course. Nomenclature isn't the question. Will there be a new flagship Avinox or not is why it matters. I don't expect many people here to get overly excited over a new economy Avinox. A new flagship Avinox would be a way, way bigger deal.

But what would a flagship motor even look like? It's already lighter than nearly every other full power motor, it's way more powerful and delivers the power nicely. Basically other than noise there isn't much to improve on.

That's why personally any battery improvement above 10% capacity gain and an amflow frame slightly beefed up, with replaceable batteries or a decent range extender and non-trunnion shock would be a bigger deal than anything they could realistically do to the motor.

Now in a dream world I would love to see what power they could get out of a 2kg motor, but an SL doesn't seem to be on the cards.

That's my point! I don't understand how DJI can justify the investment in a new flagship motor when the M1 is already the most sought after power plant in eMTB. Seems to me they'd spread their investment over a few years. However, the members posting in the new Avinox Crestline thread seem to believe a new flagship Avinox is all but a given; and appear to be expecting such on their new frames.
People point to DJI releasing new cameras and drones every year, but I don't think the markets or economies are anything like eMTB.

Because they put their first product out, are actually listening to their consumers, and making the necessary adjustments. Why is everyone so skeptical and seemingly against a new motor? Keep em coming!

If they drop a new better motor I think a lot of people will make the switch on their next bike. The more I ride my wife’s new Bosch bike, I will be only on Avinox for the foreseeable future. It’s a personal opinion for sure, but I very much prefer the Avinox. It’s close enough though, so if they can make it any better I think you’ll see another flux of people making the switch.

The Avinox came out in 2024. It's older than the Bosch gen 5 that didn't really roll out until 2025. Right now the Avinox seems to be positioned to take a huge share of the market... to me, it makes so much sense for them to bring out a new motor regardless of how much better it is actually going to be.

Let the record show I’m all for new replacement eMTB motors every year. I just don’t think DJI, or anyone else can do it. Hopefully I’m proven wrong.
I mean it's hardly rocket science. Keep the housing the same, tweak a few internals and stick a new firmware on with more NM and W and you're there. EZ.

I've made a career working for manufacturers of consumer goods. It's a massive effort. Far, far more involved than you describe.
To be clear- Physics allows a new motor design every year. Economics of the situation is another challenge altogether. Maybe the CCP provides funding like they do with their automotive manufacturing? Could be.

I think it might have been said tongue in cheek "simples" :)

What gap do you think they need to fill? Where's the opportunity?

The opportunity is to show they're listening and able to iterate their design in a timely fashion (more timely than the incumbents). Rattle and efficiency are the 2 key concerns that I hope are addressed.

DJI are a massive company with a lot of resources. They have already done the hardest bit which was development the first gen of their drive system. Anything coming next is likley just iteration and evolution of that and not as big an undertaking. I really think you are underestimating their ability.

They've already filled the lightweight, big battery, full power, looks like an analog bike gap with the amflow and M1. The opportunity is to ride the hype train they have created and bring out a newer updated motor faster than the competition. I'm sure you will see a whole bunch of Avinox bikes this year... it wouldn't make sense for bike companies to throw an older motor into their newest bikes.

I’m confident the eMTB division of DJI needs to be profitable on its own. I’m not confident the eMTB martlet is large enough to fund annual new motor development. I acknowledge I could be wrong though.

Didn’t someone on here put up a figure like 30,000 amflows were sold in 2025? Add in forbidden, crestline, velduro, unno, etc. That’s a lot of motors they sold. Plenty rumors of some other major brands going Avinox this year too.

Got lost in the debate last page about 'why bother to release a new improved motor when they are already better than the competition'...a bit strange to see debate on whether to improve or not...forums I guess. I wouldn't buy an M1 for the rattle, I would buy an M2 for the non-rattle.

Stop making sense!
