Atherton S170.E Dyf-E bike coming soon...

Just spoke to them. Bike is delayed and they can't give a date on when it will be ready. Considering other bikes now.
This is what I was afraid of. I'm so glad I didn't believe them and cancelled. Be end of summer before anything gets sent out.

They can't even blame anyone/the war etc . They had months to sort things out before announcing the pre order.

My mates a170 was 4 months late. That was a whole ago and I had hoped they had improved.

Nope. Said they will call me later. Won't hold my breath
They said they would call me back and I had to chase them. If my bike is not ready week start the 8th, I am going to cancel and buy another AMflow Pro to use over in Spain. The bike is so good in its slacker set up, it does everything I want and more.

That’s Sad to hear.

I was in that original first batch as well. Looking at all this now, I’m honestly happy I canceled my order and got my deposit refunded back in January before the full payment was due in February.

I’m not really buying the EMC certification explanation. If EMC testing is the issue, that’s something that should have been planned and completed a long time ago, especially for a bike that has allegedly been in development for months, if not years. I understand EMC testing is a requirement for CE marking, but it’s not some surprise last-minute obstacle that suddenly appears out of nowhere.

Same goes for parts availability. If you open preorders and take deposits for a limited first batch, you should already have supply allocation secured for the builds. Otherwise you’re effectively selling bikes that don’t really exist yet.

At this point the whole thing starts looking more like a rolling crowdfunding campaign than a premium bike launch.

And when you think about it... if they invested all that preorder money smartly into stock or short-term interest accounts, they could probably make more money than on the actual bikes themselves.

Component availability was the reason I was given.

I’ve not really seen many other bikes that spike my interest, maybe the mondraker but that doesn’t really seem to be available in XL in the uk until the end of the year.

Atherton won’t be dragging their feet for the sake of it, given they build/cnc them locally I would buy its component delays…
I’d guess avinox bits…

I recon if it’s the bike you want you’ll struggle to get much comparable before the Atherton is delivered

Some more comprehensive/forthcoming coms would be nice, and maybe a sweetener for the delays, but assuming it doesn’t go on and on I’ll be waiting

They did call me back. Further week delay. I can live with that. Hopefully they honour that now.
That’s not to bad, I could live with that , I would rather it took a bit longer and is fully checked over etc.

Sunset Cycles have the Zendit in XL sat on the shop floor ready to go…

It's as long as a boat. I looked at the zendit, very odd sizing and dropper insertion is terrible. I've ridden one briefly. If you want a plough and don't like jumps or fun, zendit is on. The complete opposite of nimble

You rode one that was too large for you, no ?

Nope. Im 6'1. large was massive. 500 reach I think. It felt even bigger. Ml reach was good, but rest of the bike felt small. Dropper insertion was so bad it feels like the seat is up even when down.
Its just a very big bike. Long chainstay's as well. Its as I say, intended to be a plow on open fast tracks.

Atherton is a far better sized bike. Zendit looks nice though. But in the end I opted for neither :ROFLMAO:

6'1" is solidly m/l territory.
A 200mm dropper fits with a 33" inseam.
I know what you mean though, the more drop, the better.
The orbea wild with the m2s is going to be tough to beat, it will check all the boxes.

It's not just the dropper length. I was also looking at the Crafty's, but their ST is 3cm longer in XL and my V1 Megatower is 4cm, running a 200mm dropper fully slammed, so I've asked for the 240mm on my order to compensate. I've waited years for emtb development, sizing and components to bring a bike to the market that matches my Megatower, as that's been the best riding bike I've ever owned.

Mate has a zendit, completely written off on second ride after a crash. Wasn't even a big crash on a local mellow red loop. The dage is way more than I would expect. Hit a pine cone and front slip out and hit the floor. Smooth rock on the ground went straight through the frame.

I've crashed carbon bikes before and never seen the damage his zendit showed.

That’s a bummer. Hopefully Mondraker can offer him a deal on crash replacement or he has some insurance cover.
Yeah, he is pushing for a full replacement, the damage looks like it fell down a mountain, twice. If it cant survive a simple washout crash, it would likely crack at some point anyway

Looks like these are starting to get into peoples hands now. Hopefully for mine end of the month still
Mine is due next week, if it’s not I am cancelling and buying another AMflow Pro.

On the Atherton FB group. Think they look good with the RS kit

Same level I ordered. Thought they were coming with black forks though. Glad to see the red. Although my Intend fork will be going on.

They told me my bike was #75 and would be available from 18th June. That was a couple of weeks ago though.

Same as my order, albeit they have told me I am another 2/3 weeks delayed.....
Size specific parts delaying mine :(

I was told my deposit was the 8th in the first batch and my order is due 10th June . I've checked today and they've said they're confident in that date and nothing should delay it. Size 8 S170E.2 build kit like the above.

Nice..
Good to see them popping up in the wild.

I visited Atherton HQ yesterday, I got a quick spin on the prototype bike (all I can say whoever has ordered will be very pleased, Awesome bike)..
Also I was informed that the 1st 2 bikes where only shipped..

I've still no idea where I'm on the list, I suspect mid July for me.

Good luck and health to the ride all..
