Atherton S170.E Dyf-E bike coming soon...

I do love the provisional wing of the Yorkshire republican army banging on about God's country. None of you Arkwrights ever mention Barnsley or Wakey, it's all Harrogate, York & the dales eh lads. 😉
I'm from Bradford, definitely not the nice part of God's country. I think Bradford was what was left over after he had finished beautifying the Dales. At least the nice part of Yorkshire was not far away. When my Dad got his first car and took us on day trips to places like Appletreewick and Bolton Abbey, we thought we'd died and gone to heaven! :)

The Monty Python sketch "The Four Yorkshiremen" resonates with me. :ROFLMAO:

Atherton did it the right way. They waited for the EMTB market to mature with the right drive unit-battery combination. Given their market/production focus they were in a good position to do this. Now the true test is to see if their approach to the EMTB world will yield the class leading bike they obviously strive for. Atherton bikes being sold out upon release is a great business model. This insures good quality control and reliability. It will be interesting if this bike does well with owners and reviewers.

Could be good, could be bad. Depends on battery size. It's killing me waiting on news
I'd asked them how the 1600-2000m range compared to the range they would get out of something like the Orbe Wild they used in the video, they said they'd be putting out a newsletter with some "range examples" soon. I'm like you its killing me nor knowing.

Im hoping it's before full payment day, quote below

"Yep we understand and thank you for the trust! Watch out for newsletter info with some real world range testing!"

Does anyone know why the atherton bikes are setup with cable routing like this? Two ports on the left and one on the right. All the Athertons ride Moto brakes and it's a british company, Orange used to do it as well, it just doesn't make sense to me. I guess it's for the rest of the world but it would be nice to be given the choice or have 2 on both sides,

You have the choice to choose. Another great reason to build the bikes in the way they do. Different files for different designs.

You won't. But, can still get a full refund of full details aren't to your liking. 700wh I would cancel mine. Unless it's an incredibly efficient new motor
The fact they can't even tell us the capacity makes me think it must come with something other than the 600 or 800 currently available...

Agreed. At this point it's a fairly well known secret the new batteries will be 700 and 900wh. Unno accidentally releases details about the m2 motor and DJI came down on them very hard. Athertons are protesting themselves and keeping very quiet

Didn't realise that. Is that info available anywhere?

My bet it's the 700 then based on the wording on the website. Plenty for me tbh.

It's difficult. I'm at dyfi bike park nearly every week. Love what they do. But if it's 700wh, I can get a yeti lte with a Bosch race motor and 800wh for the same money. Had one for two weeks. Atherton needs to be special.

Can't see it being more than a 700 with the weight

I've had and email back saying the cable ports are fixed so no choice, if your moto then brake or dropper has to go through the left hand side.

That's not ideal. Can you not get 2 cables through the one hole on the right side?

Does the DJI control need a cable?

The current dji system controllers are wireless so I don't think that will be an issue, the ports are elongated so you might be able to get 2 through, but I doubt the bung will fit. Orange used to do it and it did annoy me a bit, that cable on the left used to rattle and mark the headtube, at least on the .1 and .2 I suppose you can get a wirless dropper. I've just been looking at right hand dropper levers like the wolftooth 360 , I wonder If I could get used to shifting on the left axs pod.

It’s 100% not Bosch, as the warranty claims were to high.

That's 100% not true. DJI offered a very favourable deal to go with them. Bosch have long been the most reliable motor.

I got one of the first wave of atherton bikes for delivery in April. The only thing making me think twice is DJI reliability. Everyone I know with one, has had issues. Then also had problems with long waits on parts. I'm really hoping the gen 2 motor work es these issues. If not, will cancel and go with a yeti lte. Had one for two weeks and it was an amazing bike.

I also have an early bike in April. My AMflow PL has been faultless for 18 months that’s one of the main reasons as to why I bought the bike. I have ridden Bosch bikes, they are not a patch on the AMflow motor wise. When I asked why they went with DJI the response was that it’s by far the lowest of warranty claims on E bike motors. Not a single thing has gone wrong on my DJI AMflow from Sep 24 and 3k miles, like nothing, I would not touch an E MTB unless it had a DJI power unit.

One mate has had two speen sensors replacing. One took 3 weeks to come in stock. Another had a new motor. Another has had a new display as water for into it. Speed sensor and controller issues are pretty common. Even on this forum.

Having ridden both Bosch and DJI the Bosch to me is the nicer motor. I'm putting a lot of faith in athertons that the new motor won't get these issues. I don't care about anything over 80nm. I always detune every motor I ride.

We will soon find out. But the reason I never went with a DJI 1st Gen motor was the issues with them I have seen with my own eyes on friends bikes.
