Yes - i'm guessing Avinox will move from what they have now, 600 & 800 batteries, to 700 and 900 without increasing the size.

This will likely come with the ~700(ish)Wh battery
I’m thinking the same. Atherton info on battery *might* relate to Avinox embargo because Atherton are implementing a new Avinox battery form factor. Which is under embargo.

…..but maybe (probably) not.

The consensus across many pages are that this will be the Avinox.

It looks very Maxon Air shaped.

I screen grabbed the lightest from from YT video and ran it through nano banana...That down tub can't be that small, right?

Sounds like a suicide decision but I’m beginning to wonder if Atherton is going to put the battery on the outside of the tube. In the video they provided, there is a very quick rendering of what most would think is a water bottle but it you look at it again, it looks like a battery like we used to see on the down tube of the early EMTB’s.

…confirming prejudices is correct though.

‘preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience’

Is then confirmed by actual evidence 😳

Moving on, it says Avinox system, and integrated battery …
I certainly hope we are told more before the balance is due, even if we have to keep quiet about it for a while.

One of the first 50 ? No doubt you will be told the battery capacity before the balance is required.

You'd hope its 800w, even better if they have worked out 900w for same weight.

Anyhow, at least they have hit the nail on the head, any new bike without the DJI system currently is on the back foot from the start.

yes, because such a battery will definitely fit into this downtube. they are gonna use the new cells made out of unobtainium

You quoted on post #218 FULL SIZED BATTERY. Did you even read what you underlined ? Do you feel stupid ? Do you actually ride or just come here to talk nonsense ?

Full sized could be... full sized, aka 800w not the mid 600w.

I know people are all into power power power and range after range after range. But is 600w really not enough ? I've done epic rides in the Peaks on a 625w Liv Embolden ladies bike, like 4+ hours out on the trails. How long/far do people actually want and need ?

Mass market, there are a lot of bigger units that have taken up riding because of ebikes. I know many 100kg+ blokes who ride a bike now but didnt before ebikes became a thing.

The option of 600w-800w is good, bigger riders want the biggest battery.

I routinely do a 30 mile trail route with around 3k vertical, some of it is savage climbing on a four year old 625w Bosch gen4. Last time I looked, about 6% of the battery had left the chat & that ride is about the limit for that bike, depending on the usual factors & for me, that's a decent afternoon out. For others it won't be nearly enough, we're all different but the market is an arms race and I have no doubt there will be lots of riders coming home with 50% + left in their bikes who never think twice about it.

Heavy riders or always in turbo mode

Full size has been used to describe many different battery capacities. A full size Shimano battery was once 625wh.

Avinox allows third party batteries (see Rottwild) so there is no guarantee the Atherton uses to factory Avinox batteries.

Its one of those things, 'range' will depend on so many factors, rider weight, power modes, tyres, pressures, distance, elevation, the ground conditions, temperature and so on....

People will have range anxiety, but really you want to get home will little battery left or you have lugged around more battery than you need.
This is why I like the idea of a range extender, have less weight for the rides where you don't need it, and if you are going out for a longer ride then take the extender, or if you want more laps, stop at the car and grab it.

I know they don't currently have one for the dji, but one can live in hope ;)

4+ hours means absolutely nothing if you are only doing 500m vertical.

You could probably do 80km if not more on an Avinox motor with little climbing on a 600wh battery.

Well yes but a 600w battery should still be getting 1000+ maybe 1300m I don't recall our epics being particularly flat at that time. Even when riding a Dune XR at Cwmcarn it certainly wasn't 500m and that's only a 400 battery.

It’s all perspective & relative, but an ebike that can ‘only‘ do 1000m of vert is fairly pointless IMO. I can pedal that amount of vert on a trail ride in less than a couple of hours.

Everyones use case/justification is different, for me, an ebike needs to add something my legs can’t, which is speed up, to compress rides due to a busy life & time crunched schedules, recovery for when I’m cooked from overdoing it, or just lapping out fun trails.

I don’t do the whole ‘epic’ pootle loops, even pre e-bikes, I came from a gravity background as an ex DH racer who jumped on board the early days Enduro train. My metric for good rides are the quality of the trails I ride. Appreciate that’s my own little space & world however.

Easily do that on a 600 if you don't hog boost mode all day, Folk going on about range on Avinox probably have evrfything maxed on and are putting in zero effort tbf 😂
