Hi, I recently got my first emtb an Amflow PX Carbon Pro.

I’m in the UK in an area where we don’t have the biggest hills so for our “downhill” runs we have to make the best use of the elevation. This means quite a lot of our jumps are on a traverse without a huge amount of slope to help with momentum.

The problem I’m having is as soon as I hit the 15.5 mph limiter its feels like I’m riding through treacle so three or four bike lengths from the take off I’m struggling to get the speed to clear the gaps I could get over on my analogue bike.

Are there any settings that I can adjust or a good custom configurations can help with this? Or is there something that I need to adapt in my riding.

I bought the emtb mainly so I can get more downhill laps in on my local trails and although I’m having fun going uphill I’m not having so much on the way down and some trails now just seem impossible as I cant clear the gaps.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Yup you need to get a VPN and pair the bike to your phone via the US. This will let you select 25, 32 or 45 km/h as max speed. Just unpair your phone and forget the device in the blue tooth use a VPN set via the US, or New Zealand or Zhong Kong for a 45km/h max.
See attached YouTube how to video.

Yep. I had this same issue of casing so many jumps, because the limiter cut in just as the approached the takeoff, causing your takeoff speed to be incorrect. I have a 32kph limit I can select when I'm riding jumps all day. Apparently I'm a terrorist when I'm using it and not breaking my neck. But we all have our crosses to bear ....... 🤭

See this thread. De-Restriction should only be discussed inside the De-Restriction area of the forum.

Thanks both, I had seen about the de-restricting I just wanted to check to see if we had any other options before going down that route.

It’s interesting that this doesn’t get mentioned on more reviews. On my ordinary bike you’re working out speed for jumps based on feel not with specific numbers in mind. I had no idea going into this that the limiter was going to be this much of an issue. It’s not like I want to go hooning round on footpaths or the road.

It would be OK if pedalling past the limit didn’t have so much drag but you’re getting the eqivalent of engine braking just at the wrong time.

Cheers

Is it actually "engine braking" or is it instead loss of assistance to overcome wind resistance and bike weight/tyre drag at the cutoff speed?
