"2nd dead bosch gen 4 motor not happy

If you can be bothered, data sheets on cleaning gear can be revealing. I keep a £10 5l bottle of Screwfix no nonsense degreaser after sussing out it's an identical formula to Halfords bike degreaser at £15 a litre.
I'm on it . Is this the correct one ?

Blimey, they put the price up a bit. Still, it's a lifetime's supply.

Getting a little fed up with my bosch motor. 1st motor lasted just 1000miles, got replaced under warranty in covid, which took 3 months. The 2nd motor has never missed a beat until a week ago. Stopped at a mates and did 2 days of riding. Day one the sky opened up and it pissed it down big time, finished the ride, cleaned and oiled the bike and out for beer, 2nd days was cracking, 10 miles in code came up with an over load 500, ended the ride.
Got back home check the cable in the motor, one was loose, went out for a ride all good. today went out no codes 20 miles banked, put bike away, went to clean, oil check it, motor dead, nothing. Motor is out of warranty, so local shop to get it checked, but can see this as a new motor. The 2nd motor has only covered just over 1000miles. utterly fed up, these motors should last for 1000s of miles.
Hello Geeman
After 9,400 km, I performed a service on my BDU450CX engine. I completely disassembled the engine, cleaned out the old grease, inspected it, and re-greased it. After the service, I received Error 513, even though no faults had been reported. So I disassembled the motor again and found that, due to a lack of attention, the new grease had partially contaminated the cadence sensor. All sensor components must be degreased, dry, and clean! Even the drive shaft must be clean on the outside, and the bottom bracket shaft—including the two clutch discs—must be dry and clean. The drive shaft is equipped with two Teflon (?) washers on the inside and does not require lubrication. At most, a very thin film of grease can be applied. I cleaned the drive shaft with the cadence sensor using isopropyl alcohol and reassembled the motor. During a 65 km ride, no more error messages; the motor runs flawlessly, with no issues reported. On YouTube, there are several videos of the motor being disassembled and reassembled posted by an amateur mechanic who really puts tons of grease in the gears and on the shafts. Don’t just do whatever you want! You need to apply a REASONABLE amount to the gears and make sure the cadence and power sensor components are clean, dry, and free of grease.
I think that before spending a significant amount of money on a new engine, it’s better to service the engine and clean its delicate components. My philosophy is this: electronic components are reliable; 99% of the time, the problem is a bad connection, a cold solder joint, dirt, or a combination of these three issues. Before spending a significant amount of money, it’s better to check whether the problem is easily fixable.
