29 er carbon wheel set

I have a 2018 Levo Expert and would like a set of 29 inch wheels as a back up what is available turnkey in carbon that will work on the Levo. Thanks

If I were buying carbon wheels again (it wouldn't be Enve) I would be looking at light bike ones. Under 1k. The Reynolds are good too. People are doing sixth element are good too, although I've no experience of those.

My son rides with 6th element wheels on his std 29 er enduro bike and they are very good..... talking to the owner of 6th Element at an event a couple of months ago and he was telling me he is looking at launching e- bike specific wheels..... maybe worth a look?
 
Saw some mavic carbons at an amazing price on chain reaction today could be worth a look at thier current sale
 
jmb22 - Make sure the wheel/tire combo you plan to run will fit in your bike. I also have a 2018 Levo (Comp Carbon) and a 29x2.6 Rekon tire mounted on a 29"x30mm inner width rim will not fit in the back. This 29er wheel/tire combo is too tall for the chainstay length. The radius of this wheel/tire combo is 15", and the clearance from the rear axle to the front crossmember on the chain stays is only 14.8" max. I think you'd have to use a narrow tire to get a low enough profile to fit a 29er in the back of the 2018 bike.
 
On my 18 Levo with 29” wheels even a 2.4 ardent tire was too tall. That was with a 25 mm rim.

Roval Traverse SL 30 mm ID with DHF 2.6 WT front and back fit well on my 2018 levo carbon comp.

Thanks for posting this, Al. Tires do vary in aspect ratio, and it's good to know that the 29x2.6 Butchers are lower profile than some.
 
I just buy 29" 23mm inner width rims (levo ht) to my 2018 Levo FSR Comp. Can any one help / tell me which tire size would be best for these rims? 2.5 too big?
 
Yep, not the best. Stick with 2.3/2.4. 25-30 mm ID is best for 2.5 tires. If you do want to run wide tires I would suggest 2.4 DHR II WT 3C compound front and dual compound rear, then just make sure to pump the tire pressure high enough so you don't get tire squirm. These are awesome tires.
 
Well with winter coming I am thinking of running a 29" front wheel on a 2018 Levo in a 2.4 to 2.6 wide profile, I am having a few moments on wet off camber root gardens! I would say most of this is lack of rider skills but if I can band aid that it would be good, any feedback on this combination?
 
My Acros Enduro carbon wheels (<1500 gr) felt spongy on the Levo, so I sold a kidney and installed the E-bike specific carbons wheels from DT-Swiss, huge improvement.

I did try that with my 2018 levo carbon comp with a 2.5 DHFWT on the front, 29" rim 30 mm ID, and the stock rear 2.8 butcher on the 27.5" rim 38 mm ID. It actually did very well on wet slippery off camber roots, except I still had too many pedal strikes and put the 29 inch wheel back on the back, which fixed most of my pedal strikes after I also bought very thin flat pedals. That was my only complaint about that combination however. The 29 inch wheels ended up almost a full inch taller than the stock wheels and really helps with pedal strikes.
 
I have a 2018 Levo and I bought Blue Flow 29er wheels from them, built in Nottingham on Hope pro 4 hubs. £780 delivered and they are great!!
 
I just tried mounting Maxxis minion DHF 29x2.6" tires and the tire is touching and will hardly turn. 20psi.

Maybe try a butcher 2.6 out back next?

What tire are you running in the back? A 2.6 maxxis won't fit on my 18 carbon comp. The wife has an aluminum comp and they fit just fine! Turns out the carbon comp rear triangle has a good half inch less clearance.
 
Two years now on my “light bicycles” carbon wheels and they still look like new despite our rocky terrain. Built them with hope pro 4 hubs and running a Huck Norris in the rear wheel with 1100g Michelin tires. Would buy again. Best price hands down. I got an email from them last week. They have new rim tech. Lighter and stronger and for an extra $50 they have a lifetime warrantee
