2026 Giant Reign E+ Megathread

Well, it also depends on what the rider needs. For those who want an 800–1000Wh battery, this bike won’t fit. Same for riders who mostly ride fire roads or long-range trail rides...it’s not the match either. This is a long-travel enduro bike.

The range depends a lot on your own weight and the level of assist you use. Giant allows the rider to adjust the motor’s assist and torque, so the range might be enough for some riders but not for others. In my case, I’m not looking for very long rides(30–40 km is fine) and I’m a “light” rider at 70 kg, and I really prioritize how the bike handles: how light it feels, how much fun it is to ride downhill, jumps, etc. I have a Trance Elite, around 20 kg, with 160mm travel front and rear, a 400Wh battery, plus an extender if needed. That’s good enough for me as I’m not trying to climb super fast without stressing my legs. Of course, more battery would be nice, but right now this setup matches my needs.

But yes, I totally agree: small companies are much more dynamic and quicker to bring new stuff to the market. The tech is crazy these days; too many new things in such a short time, and it all gets old very quickly. That doesn’t help prices go down… so I guess we’re paying the cost of evolution.

It’s removable, very easy, no tools needed. You could get a second battery for loop rides, maybe it’s a good option.

The battery weighs around 2.7 kg, and the motor has a magnesium housing, weighing 2.6 kg.
The total bike weight will be around 21–22 kg, depending on size and equipment.
So roughly similar weight and target audience as the Unno Myth which has the crazy power of the DJI motor system and an 800wh battery (if those things are important to you).
It kinda reinforces the point that I was trying to make earlier in that Unno started developing the new Myth for the Bosch motor then were able to change relatively quickly to the DJI system instead when it came to market because they're a small company.

So from the original leak and the video of the prototype bike it looks like there will be 2 new bikes the SL with integrated battery and the Full Fat version I have been told that the press embargo will be lifted in October so have my fingers crossed for a Full fat 100Nm long travel bike with an interchangeable 840wh battery.

Yep, kind of similar bikes at that point… Unno’s price starts quite a bit higher than the Reign.
Geometry and downhill capability are pretty similar...I’d say the Reign leans a bit more towards downhill.

With the Unno you get more battery range and higher motor power, but the Reign offers more versatility in terms of battery management: you can ride it without a battery, swap between two batteries, or run the main battery plus the extender. The Unno with DJI is what it is(fixed system), you can’t remove the battery for travel or charge it separately wherever you need.

But yeah, I get the point: smaller companies are much more dynamic, and they need to take those risks and make bold moves to secure their own spot in the big pool.

No...one bike with 560wh battery, that's all.
Then there is the EP+(range extender) 280wh(it will be included in the E+ 0).

I really wish people would stop focusing on 560wh. Wait till it comes out and you see how efficient it is

The 540 battery bike is the Reign Advanced, The Normal Reign is what i am hoping was spotted at Eurobike. - YouTube and i am hoping it will come with the new PW-X4 motor and 840 battery or and equivalent battery.

oook...I get it now. Well, there is nothing new for alloy Reign. The new one will be the Advanced E+, is the one you see at Eurobike.
For 800wh battery and new motor you must wait until the new Stance.

It seems like many riders have forgotten what a bike really is; a lot of people only look at watts and Wh, max power and torque figures. Those riders don’t care about the brand, the suspension system (imagine Santa Cruz dropping their VPP just to fit a Bosch motor😄), long-term battery life, real performance, reliability, warranty service, frame construction, geometry, and so on. That’s why so many new brands are popping up these days: just e-bikes with the trending Bosch system, and all these new cyclists are willing to put their money there. I guess it’s normal when a flood of new users comes into a hobby.

The one at eurobike is not a light weight fixed battery bike, if you look close it has a battery cover

The leaked specs on page 1 are matching the grey Reign E+ posted on page 2 which is kind of confirming what you're saying.

The down tube is very fat for a 560wh battery, something is off.

I hope that Giant will be surprising us with some kind of modular range extender that will fit in the downtube, because being forced to run a bottle cage range extender with that fat of a down tube only to have 800wh of battery will be a very hard sell for A LOT of people.

There will be a 860wh battery you can buy that goes internally.

Who said the new Reign has a fixed battery? It’s removable.🤷‍♂️
People seem to have run with this assumption based on the leaked specs saying “integrated” battery, but if you look at the current models, that's the same terminology they use to describe the battery, i.e., the battery is integrated into the downtube and not external. From the Eurobike pics it definitely looks to be removable.

Looking forward to some ride impressions and real weights. Love my current Reign but wouldn't mind losing some weight.

Yep, same here! The new one looks like an improvement on weight, but a lot slacker. Seems geared towards downhill more than general trail riding like the current Reign E+. We'll see soon!

The Reign has always been a DH focused enduro bike. The outgoing Reign E+ was pretty slack at 63.7/64.5 degrees. The Trance is the trail focused option.

LOL the whole post is about a leaked lightweight Reign Advanced with fixed battery, since it started the video cam out with a different Bike (maybe reign) with what looks like a removable battery

22kg, removable battery 180/170 travel, 560wh battery but capable of taking a 840wh battery. Also a large extender available.

3 versions available. 6.5k to 10k gbp.

Find my bike feature built in for security.

Few other details as well

My current Reign is used primarily for access to session trails we use Sport/Turbo for getting up the hills, Ride till battery is low, get lunch change battery and go back out again :) It's the perfect tool, Im hoping tew one will be same but better little more powerful slightly bigger battery, maybe lighter Fingers crossed don't have long till details are released

The original Post said Integrated battery and everyone talked about it being fixed which put me off straight away, I was aware of prices but weight makes it sound like it may be Carbon which im not sure about will have to see if its class 5 rated and lifetime frame warranty

Carbon will outlast any alloy frame nowadays. It's been years since they had any issues. Most manufacturers never had any. Santa Cruz for instance stopped making alloy frames because of failure rates and went carbon. Internet myrh that it's weaker.

You have not seen me ride I broke a Ride control Unit the one on top of the frame when i crashed :ROFLMAO:, If it has lifetime warranty i'm not as bothered it also has to be rated for bike park use.

It makes sense now, The thing that threw me and made me think there was 2 bikes was the whole thread talking about integrated and fixed 560 battery, which put me off, if that is the eurobike bike im stoked but i will definitely need the bigger battery (or 2 of them) its just the way we ride we are in the minority but most weekends are just sessioning trails and the bike is basically an uplift we ride till lunch change batteries and go out again.

The Trance has a lower stack number than almost any other trail bike, good luck riding it in a trail with downhill sections. My 2 cents (I also had one...)

Is Stack Height not the easiest frame geometry number to work around? Raise your stem on the steerer and add high rise bars and you have negated a low Stack Height? or am I missing something? Ultimately its bar height that matters?

Yes you’re absolutely right and of course I did that. However, in my experience, even if it seems obvious, bike geometry cannot be corrected that easily. Sorry for the sideline on the main subject which should be the new Reign E+... Cheers!

Do you think it will be possible to install the new BatteryPack into the Elite Advanced(2024) by replacing the existing 400?

I would really like that ;-)
