Never kept any analogue main mtb over 2 years and merely sold them on the fund the replacement - my thought process has always been to sell them once they approach major (expensive) component replacement, wheels, suspension etc .

Same here @165, was between s and m on yt chart, demo'd medium in UK and small in Chatel, and went with small. All other bikes have been small. No regrets. Weight gives the bike stability so you don't need it to be the length of a barge. Downsizing retains some flickability..... Is that even a word.
Degla is ace but doesn't cover as much ground as CyB and is possibly a little easier colour for colour. You can get 2 laps of the full black loop on a charge as long as you avoid turbo.
Setup - well its my first time so I'll be looking for tips just like you. I will probably be using Minions front and back, but will probably go Exo+ for the rear, and maybe slightly skinnier (2.6 maybe). Not sure what size options are available. Other than that, fresh brake pads for the race...

Managed to bag entries for the main trek for the Friday, starting in Les Gets. Blimey it was hard work - like trying to get tickets for Glastonbury.
Only 90 tickets left for Les Gets (Friday) at 9.20, so will no doubt be sold out by 10.

It's all about the modes used, altitude gain and rider weight. To do the 50 miles and 1000m climb I expect I'll have to be in eco mode for all but the steepest climbs.
Did the 44 mile route on my 2018 Levo which generally gets 25 miles, but managed the first 35 miles on only 2 bars as it's nearly all lifts and downhill. Used 7 bars on the last 10 miles which had 800m of climbs. This year I'll be on my Decoy which has a slightly bigger battery and generally...
FAQs state it's possible to do the main trek on an ebike but was hoping someone with personal experience would have some practical advice.
Given that it's the same amount of climbing and only the length of the downhills double, I can't see how it's not achievable as all the extra distance...
Did the 2019 60km e-passport du Soleil and have to say it was the best day out I've ever had on a bike, 44 miles, 5 hours, 13,000ft of descending, max speed 44mph!! Entries open again next week for the 2020 event and I'm definitely going.

Kept my 2018 Levo when I got my Decoy. Gonna let the wife use it (pigs might fly) and as a spare in case the Decoy needs any work at any time. Now planning to take the Levo over to our place in France so I don't need to keep taking a bike back n forth from the UK.
I've got both motors and the only difference I see is the E8000 is a bit more binary when kicking in/out but only during boost mode. At lower modes and when rolling off past the max assist speed they are pretty much the same. The E8000 is obviously way louder which may be a problem for some but...
