What the Hell happened to this gem...Kervelo compact MGU?

Steve Smith of EMBN mentioned today on his channel that this French start up company produce a nifty, compact designed MGU way back in 2018 called the Quartz . Status unknown unfortunately. Website non-existent/disabled. Thanks to Steve's early OG experience with the Emtb genre's knowledge...

Ever wonder how much the big Bafang M620-160Nm weighs? Yeah, it's heavy!😁

I had to pull my motor in order to change out my dropper post cable housing. Just for kicks I thought I would weigh my monster Bafang M620 motor. Also, I had my digital scale handy. Yep, it's damn heavy = 17.97 lb wet weight (minus chain ring/spider, cranks, and pedals.of course). It's designed...

Eddie Currents; Who's using this hunk of plus 2.8" rubber to minimize sidewall slices on chunk and rocks?

I think the weight for the 27.5 x 2.8 Eddie Current is a heavier 1455+/- grams. I just ordered one. I tried to use the old Maxxis HR2 2.8 60 Tpi (junk sidewalls) and then the Surly DWs 60 tpi (better, medium sidewall protection). I'm hearing that the ECs 👇 may be the Bee's knees (never did...

Damnit! New Fox Transfer '25 sticking

I got this first batch Fox Transfer '25 and installed in late June '24. It started sticking in the extension after only a few rides. But was able to remedy with a dab of Slick Honey light grease under the dust collar wiper seal (it unscrews via hand). That seemed to help for another 6 rides or...

Non-ICR headset, internal frame cable guide conversion for the SZZS-specific CEF50

Problems with ICR ZS56/28.6 headsets? Me too! I have two in 8 months with uniquely different issues discussed later. First, all Internal Cable Routing third party headsets are new, and thus questions of precision and durability are at the forefront. Second, I like the idea, it provides a very...

    Repeating history by technological advancement?

Just historical perspective...first mechanically, self-propelling machine? Note: the good ole's days of no rear mech, or shifting for that matter--which was limiting of course. Now today with lightweight materials, it is technically possible to not have the rear mech again! Emtb...

Sram GX T derailleur/eagle drivetrain hack...anyone with old AXS try it?

So, I'm getting ready to upgrade my frame to UDH compatibility. Uniquely, my frame manufacturer (SZZS CEF50-Bafang M820) offers a UDH chainstay option. I currently have old AXS GX. I found this guy that created an interesting hack. See it below. Has anyone tried this specifically?🤔...

ICR Headsets for the SZZS-specific CEF50 build

Internal Cable Routing (ICR) headsets come stock/OEM on many higher,-end Orbea E-mtbs in the past few years, so now also this is true for the Bafang M820 (close-integrated downtube battery) frames. Consequently, they're new, and traditional manufacturers like Cane Creek and Chris King are not...

CEF50 Battery Range Extender: that juicebox strapped to your rig to decrease anxiety and extend your range aka fun?

Just doing a CEF50 battery extender solo thread now that frame kits are shipping out. We've got a few CEF50 owners who not only dabble in E-mtb enthusiasm but have got some real pro background into programming and/electronics and possibly some battery pack builders. That's not me but I did...

SZZS specific CEF50-main thread (initial builds and troubleshooting related only)

See the M820 motor discussion for preliminary details...just making a specific CEF50 frame owners topic. Total cost with shipping for me was $1750 US. Production starts this February. So, I put down a $500 deposit for a L-size hoping I don't get burned. 💸😁🍻

The E-mtb "Fitness" question: is it achievable in "eco" power mode (or the lowest equivalent)...Yes? No? Maybe?

I say yes...mostly, but I have to ride longer and faster. Which is as fun as hell!🤟(So, it probably won't be as efficient as an analogue/acoustic/standard bike). And I can ride the next day unlike a non E-mtb due to slower recovery time likely from the dreaded age-related decrease in metabolism😜
