2022 Levo Motor Warranty Voided

A friend took his 2022 Levo to a Specialized to have the circumference adjusted to the smallest setting for a bit of a speed boost. The dealer told him there is a new firmware update that 1) prevents dealers from changing the circumference now and 2) that any circumference change settings are permanently recorded and if set to the smallest size will potentially void the warranty.

My bike is set to the smallest circumference by a dealer, so will this truly void my warranty? It was done by a dealer and I can argue that I had no idea… Just looking to see if I’m SOL or not.

Thanks!

Ask the dealer who set up your bike for you. Since you are posting on an open forum, your claim "that I had no idea" just disappeared. Do you really think that Spec does not look at what is posted here zgraham from NJ?

If I understand you correctly, you had your dealer change your rear wheel size to a 27.5" wheel so you could try out riding a mullet setup? How could that possibly void a warranty? Both my KSL and LSL have both been changed to 27.5" rear wheels.
Did you really notice much of change in speed?

It truely amazes me that someone would take a totally engineered "E-bike" and think that they know so much more about the operational parameters than the manufacturers, that they feel changing the mechanical gearing which has been mathamatically determined to prevent "excessive" motor loading, should not be penalized when they destroy the motor or controller.

Not totally sure the changes were made to the chain ring, or the internal controller wheel size setting. Chain rings would have an affect on the gear ratio/motor loading. And top overall speed of the bike. I run both a mullet and a straight 27.5" wheel set, and upsizing the front wheel should not affect anything but handling. He kinda left out language that would clearly indicate what is really happening here.
