I have moaned on here before about my dead E8000 but I must give some praise to Madison the UK Shimano importer. My lbs is a Shimano service centre and they contacted Madison which resulted in me getting an assisted purchase for a new motor.

Thanks Richy, this is becoming more encouraging. The only downside is that mines a Vitus bought from CRC. If I take it to a LBS will Madison recognise the warranty claim?

Under consumer legislation articles have to be of 'satisfavtory quality'. Durability is one aspect recognised as contributing to being satisfactory. I don't think it has anything to do with conditions of sale.

My E8000 has finally gone EO10/WO13 after 31/2 years so am looking for anew motor. Madison want mid £900ishfor a replacement but eBay has them for £200 less from Germany. Are there any complications to doing this? Are they a direct replacement? No weird firmware issues?

Okay, i will answer my own question. My LBS couldn't answer my query either but a helpful staff member found a magnet that was labelled 'Yamaha' for £8 . I thought I might as well give it a go and sure enough it works fine. Presumably most wheel magnets ARE compatible.
