After back surgery unable to ride. Thinking about my EMTB wasn't in my firefront... and so not being dilligent, I let the batery go flat. Now tht I can ride, it won't take a charge. My LBS has a Shimano computer rig to analyze and they aren't able to get a peep out of it. This is a Gen 0 battery. Out of stock with orbea and when they finlly come in. Only a dealer can order and I get to pay DHL from Spain

Hey Orbea - Ya know there is also market on this side of the pond. Maybe you should consider stocking parts over here too ?

So... anyone know where I can source new gen 0 battery or preferrable where I can get thiis one reconditioned.. Kinda shocking to me that there isn't a way to wake this thing up. First time I have encountered a LiOn battery with a form of BMS that can't be woken up.

The not so funny thing... My BMC Alpenchallenge AMP with Shimano was parked along side the Rise. Not only did it take a charge, it still had 3
LED segments showimg after sitting during my rehab.

Well enough bitching, time to get this Rise rehabbed so I can get out on the trail.

Any source recommendations would be more than welcome. Thanks!

In case you have not seen these:

Please post what you end up doing as I have a Gen 0 as well , and would like to know my options if and or when I reach the end of my battey life.

Any update on this? My battery is either dead or the BMS is locked. Either way, I have to travel a distance to get a dealer to look at it. Btw. This is Shimano’s requirement. They must not think regular people can deal with these issues on their own. Just give us the trick to reset BMS so I know for sure what the issue is before buying a new battery!

So far no progress. The only lead to stocking dealer os one in the UK. They can't ship batteries...The person I spoke with at Orbea US was not remotely helpful,. If I were buying another bike, based on the customer experience - it would not be from Orbea. These guys make Specialized look great...

Same exact issue with my husband's 2021 Orbea Rise battery. Local bike store was wonderful about diagnosing the battery and calling around to try to source a new one, but no luck. They even looked into having the battery rebuilt, which might be what we end up doing.

are you in the U.S.? are there any places in the U.S. that rebuild batteries? I haven't found one yet.

I'm in WA State. So far i can't even fin a battery to purchase, let alone get the dead one rebuilt. Frustrating to have a near to 10 grand hunk of carbon junk...

Maybe a custom build?

Interesting but importing qty 1 from china ? for some reason that sounds crazy...

Haven't found one that will rebuild the Rise battery yet, but will definitely keep you posted if I find any options for rebuild or replacement.

Orbea says that it is an orderabe part.
We have to go through a dealer.
Erik at Bike Tires Direct in Portland is working with Keith, the PNW Orbea rep to see what they can accomplish. As he put, to get me back on my bike as quickly as possible.

Eric can be found at 503-917-0156 or [email protected]

I don't expect this to be cheap but if it resuscitates my $9k brick... worth it.

I'll update this thread again when I hear back.

Whoa this is awesome news! Thank you so much for sharing info. I really appreciate you keeping the thread updated too. I know it will be expensive, but I'd still thrilled if we could buy a new battery and have the bike running again.

i had some positive news just a bit ago. I would recommend reaching out to Erik as he is the one person so far that has been able to get any forward momentum for me ... Orbea asked for pics of the bike's S/N and battery.

Oh that's great! I'll take pictures and reach out to Erik. Thank you so much!
