I tried the plastic ones and wasn’t the biggest fan, the wife likes them…
I’m used to and like vaults, so that’s what I’ll use when not clipping in

The other thread seems totally convoluted and presently full of none relevant conversation.

Original thread : Atherton Dyf-E bike coming soon...

Therefore, here's a thread relevant to the actual bike.

First ride out on the bike was great. I've been worried it was just to much bike but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. Very easy to manoeuvre and jump around on the trail. I didn't go mad, I deliberately went out with a bag full of tools and forgot my pads.

Setup the suspension to the recommended settings and changed auto to 3 to 11 after watching a couple of videos. Everything else as it was..

I think I normally ride a bit over the front fork but found I don't need to put as much weight on the front of this bike.
I dropped about 10 psi out of the fork (137 down to 127) and reduced lsc 2 clicks, added 5psi to the shock upto 230 , rolled the bars fwd a tiny bit then it felt really balanced. I'm about 83kg for info and this is a size 8. Rebound on the shock is just a bit too quick so I'll be adjusting that but the trailhead rockshox app seems pretty accurate.

The motor is pretty much ridiculous in that auto mode. The 12 mile loop took me under an hour, I'm sure it's normally 1.5 to 2 hrs

I set Strava to public briefly, think I had a KOM, several top 5s and that was just auto, I did drop it into turbo on one of the road climbs we call alp d'huez and it was bouncing off the speed limiter.

Even the saddle seemed pretty comfy despite not looking it to me

Anyway extremely happy overall 😊. It did flash up a motor power restricted warning after about 20 mins, on off cleared it and didn't come back so I'll keep an eye on that.

edit - Battery usgae for this was 38%, so by my calcs 38% for 1473 ft would be 3880ft for 100% or about 1150m. I'll definetly be turning it down for day to day rides though.

The main climb to the top of Hawes trail system here in Arizona is also named Alpe d'Huez!
Love the Atherton. Good luck with it.

With regards to Motor Power warning, I had this on my Pro go into advanced settings and turn off the “ extreme elevation setting” Basically if it detects the bike angle is to steep it

my pro did the same. You can go into the advanced settings and switch off the elevation mode. This fixed the issue. Hope this helps

Thank you for taking the time to write this up! How was battery consumption?

Was hoping to take mine to the Alps end of next week but just had a message saying it will be ready on 3rd July so just too late 😢

Would have been nice, always next time though.

What batch was your order in?
I’m in batch 3, I was previously told mid July - although I still haven’t received any specific ETA yet (likely going to be delayed also).

Cheers

Am batch 2 #75. Was told built 18th June for collection the week after so not delayed by too much, just enough!!

Looks like my July 8th date delivery date will be missed - expect to get a firm date next week. Anyone else picked up theirs from this batch (think its batch 3)?

First it was mid July, now it's approx end of July / August - but they still cannot commit to a date yet... Busting to have it for the summer 🤣

I was miffed when mine slipped a week. Currently in the Swiss Alps on my Decoy. Picking the new bike up on my way home.

They seemed pretty keen to get it out of the door so hopefully they are ramping up production.

Had the bike a couple of weeks now.

It's my first emtb and I chose the bike not the motor, not going lie though I was happy it was coming with the m2s.

Started mountain biking in 2000, mainly XC due to my local area being pretty flat, although lots of enduro in Wales over the last 10 years, was worried about the weight of a full power bike but so far I been able to throw it round no problem, and the handling is excellent so felt comfortable on the bike from the first ride.

The power is mad, but I'm loving it, rode scramblers in the 90s and this is bringing it all back. I'll definitely be winding it in, probably copy the new orbea wild settings as far as possible, hopefully the new parameters trickle down to the non RS versions. For now I've got enough to get my head around getting used to having a motor at all. And, being used to the weight of a motorbike the Athy weighs nothing.

I was on the fence for many years, I accepted eebs as a different sport and just thought I'd join in when I turned 60, but recently a mate who's 10 years younger reminded me you only live once, so here I am smashing round on a grin machine.

V. quiet, both up and down, could ride with a friend on an MTB and they wouldn't noticeably hear the motor. Seems silent except at 120nm and above. No noise downhill, long may that last, my mate still complains about the rattle on his gen 4 Bosch motor every other ride I see them...

Safe to say, whilst I have no comparison, the bike is amazing. The Atherton team know how to make a bike, and now I get to enjoy that on the way up as much as the way down.
