Well - Queensland in australia are basically banning everything* over 25kmph from july 1st.
Massive fines including sieze and crush.
Expected to roll out to more states.

Kids parents will be fined if under 16.

That's been the law in NSW since the day dot. Enforcement has always been the issue.

Once again. The problem is shady retailers selling +25kph E-Motos, under the guise that they will only be used on private land. I literally have mates asking me about them, wanting to use them as commuters.

I have to explain it to them, that the fines are massive, and you get points against your drivers license, meaning you can lose you drivers license. That's why the biggest problem is kids. They have nothing to lose.

I'm pointing these guys towards EMTBs, like the Amflow and Meridas. This is what we need to do. Not start EMTB flame wars like the numpty that's running around this forum, doing exactly that. It's so destructive trying to tie EMTBs to the story in the OP. As I showed. That story has nothing to do with EMTBs.

Ok, so DJI Avinox system is not classified as an e-bike in CA, but as a motorcycle? How does this affect DJI, shops selling DJI bikes, etc? Seems like they are now in a different legal class than ebike? Is it the 'nominal' motor power loophole? That is how all the non-legal ebikes get sold at retail, the makers always say 'nominal' power is 750 watts, but the motor is capable of like 3000 or 5000 watts. That's like, every other ebike sold in CA. The nominal thing should probably be rescinded. It's either 750 or less, or it's not.

The S-Works Levo should be banned according to your logic as it has been updated to 850W !?!

There kinda laws are kinda stupid, here bikes are already restricted to slow 25km/h 15miles/h and the more powerfull e-mtb people roaming in the forest are absolutely not a problem at all. I think they are trying to target these e-moto types but it might hit a wrong target with it.

Think enforcement is increasing in some parts of the UK. Recently read about some non-compliant eBikes being confiscated on the spot by the police and crushed.

I ride in a State Preserve next to my house. It has about 15 miles of single track. Up until a few weeks ago “no peddle assist” bikes were allowed (although it was never enforced). Now they just put up signs saying E-Bikes are allowed providing you have a disability that requires it. That is basically throwing in the towel . Everybody has a disability of some kind

There have been news reports of police cracking down in many city centres and confiscating illegal bikes. Seems to be aimed at Deliveroo type riders who blast through pedestrian areas rather than the eMTB crowd. I some how can't see them deploying into the local woods

Undeniable win when HIPAA protects Americans’ personal health information. You can’t be even asked for proof of a disability. At least that’s my layman’s understanding of the law.

My wife and daughter are in the medical field so I understand HIPAA more than I care to. This is why I feel the authorities are basically throwing in the towel because they know they can’t go down that road. It’s a multiuser trail (hikers/horses/MTB and now EMTB) Everyone that rides these trails knows most of the hikers hate us, so this rule change basically allows the authorities to wash their hand of it which is fine with me. They made a rule that can’t be enforced

Seems that there's increased UK wide enforcement of current pedelec laws.

"UK police and local authorities are systematically seizing and crushing illegal and antisocial e-bikes across the country. As you can see from the post below from today. Going down your anti-tampering path. There are many Motors where tampering is considered easy. So you are going to get every EMTB outlawed in the UK.

You are not helping. You need to let this go.

I have a 2023 Orbea Rise M10 with ep801, decided to de tune the motor now that it’s out of warranty. I heard a lot of good reviews about **** so went with that. The process was very easy with the Shimano pce-2 device.
