Velduro Rogue 170/165 mullet Enduro with DJI

Does anyone else have problems with cracking sounds during the descents in the front part of the bike?
The bike started cracking the third ride. This happened only after 20+ rides in the dusty summer environment on previous bikes. Not on ride no. 3 👀

I’ve had to grease my headset a few times now. I’m starting to think dust is getting in from the cable holes on the downtube, I’m ordering plugs right now. 🤷‍♂️

What plugs?

IMG_2997.webp

i used those plugs that came with the frame, but there is still space around the cables, it needs proper plugs for those too.

and then the invisiframe on top?
Yes. The normal vinyl is quite thin and would easily get chipped off road.

The invisiframe should be much faster to apply, if it weren't for the fact I need to adapt the L kit to my M frame ;)
Thankfully it seems relatively straight forward everywhere except the steering tube area

Did you also order from Zerocenter/Velduro.de? I am in the same boat then, just got the message three days ago that the second container they have on route to Germany will arrive in Hamburg the second week of June. Then they need to go through customs and organize the logistics in Germany, so the distribution to customers will then take place the last week of June.
The question now is: did anyone actually already get a frame or a bike from Zerocenter/Velduro.de? From that rumored first container that originally had an ETA in March? Did they actually deliver anything yet?
Hi,
Yes, same here—Zero Center.
My originally anticipated delivery date was March/April, but Container 2 as well.
The "great" thing is that I'll be on vacation during the week in June when the frame is now scheduled to arrive—a trip I had actually planned to take the Velduro with me :)

The top battery bolt under the screen can work loose along with the lower battery bolt near the bottom the the down tube. These needed a slight tighten on mine. Makes a horrible cracking noise if slightly loose.

Hi!
Can someone confirm to me that the new frames do have a longer chainstay? My friend received a rogue with the new engine, but when I measure the chainstay, I come on 440mm (middle BB to middle rear axle). I thought the new frames got a chainstay of 450mm. or am I wrong? Cheers

Hi, we have seat-stays available now that will extend the chain stay to 450mm, they are FoC (exchange) to anyone that has bought an XL frame from our first delivery in April. We advertised the XL with 450s.

For all others they are £300.00 inc VAT.

All the best, David

So if I can understand you, the frames and bikes of the last batch have a chain stay of 440mm only the bikes in size XL have a 450mm? I was told on velofollies for the Benelux distributor that all frames and bikes of the new batch now had a chain stay of 450mm.
Was he wrong?

That may be the case in Belgium. I was answering only for the UK. Sorry for any confusion.

is there anything official now on the silver link? what does it do? just cosmetic?

Here my impression after 3 weeks of ownership, 12 tours, 15789m elevation, 283km.

Size L, alloy wheels, gravity tires, Fox DHX2 Coil, Fox 38 170 2027, Maven Ultimate, 24.8kg.
My previous bike Giant Reign E+, L, Zeb Ultimate, Fox DHX Coil.

My riding skills are Average Joe level. Terrain: 90% single trail, ½ in forest and ½ in alpine. No bike park, no MTB dedicated trails. I don’t do big jumps or big drops.
I like technical steep ascents and descents, like to explore, and don’t mind pushing the bike if needed.

The good:

- Frame option that you can build your own, super fan of it.
- Downhill is just amazing, super stable and a lot of grip, I’m faster everywhere and more confident in the steep technical sections. The back suspension system works very well.
- Easier to do nose press switch backs. I’m not sure why but it is quite easier than my Giant although geo is quite similar.
- Lower seatpost, I can run 200mm AXS instead of my previous 175mm.
- The bike, although full enduro, is quite nimble and easy to move around.
- Climbing is insane, ¾ of the sections I was pushing before I now can fully ride. It took me a week to get use to the power, gears to use and overrun. Roots, rock gardens and step alpine broken paths are much more accessible with this bike. I use it a lot in Turbo and I just laugh at people that say you cannot use so much power, as an average joe as I’m can use it, people with much more skill will climb even more challenging sections. This thing can deliver power so well that it almost never spins even at 130nm, something that I was doing a lot on my old at 85nm
- 12a charger is practical for long tours, assuming you have electricity, as you can charge almost 500wh in 1h. See below for negative.
- Customization and Display are great, I have my own modes: for example I have a Turbo with the default overrun and an OverT that is Turbo with max overrun. I have my 4 pages of display that show me the key info that I need.
- 65w USB-C, is a good feature as I can charge my phone or I can plug in a 120g, 3000 lumen front light that I keep in the backpack if dark catches me.
- Push to walk works well and is nice that it holds position.
- Smart shifting is handy and the gear on the display is practical

The bad:
- No range extender and not sure there will be ever one that fits. I do also long alpine tours with no electricity. I now need to plan detours (last one was 5km detour) just to go and recharge it and I’m not a fan. Also, not everybody let you recharge it.
- Starting from stand still on steep terrain is more difficult than with my old Yamaha motor. I have set quick start on and max start assistance. Sometimes I use push to walk to start. But the Yamaha was noticeable easier, then once you start moving then DJI is just on another league.
- Comes with 4a charger not with 12a, is a bit of cheap for a premium bike. Ideally it should have only one charger that is switchable 4a and 12a. The 4a is useful when recharging at some alpine huts as they have old inverters that do not like 500w, let alone multiple 500w.
- 203mm back rotor mount. This is wired as their full bikes ship with Mavens that does not have 203 rotors. Apparently new models come with 200mm
- Charging port cover is a joke, very cheap and you need to pay attention that you seal it well.
- Cable routing exposed at the cranks are prone to be broken.
- 1st day mine was also squeaking a lot, after regreasing ad retightening is now fully silent.
- Velduro communication is not great, not sure it is Velduro or our importer, anyway thanks that there is @Velduro UK that gives us a lot of useful information!
- Not much space for large back tires especially if you run full 29’. I run 2.5 on mullet so is not an issue for me but good to know.

To be seen:
- Reliability
- Velduro support
- Idler sturdiness
- Transmission wear, I personally don’t care too much as is so much more fun to climb that I’m ready to pay the price for changing cassette, chain, chainring more often.

Bottomline is a great bike with a great motor that makes an average joe a better rider.

Cool review, thanks for doing it. Dope bike!

Ps. No one thinks that class 2+ is 'unusable'. After all people ride MX bikes off-road. That just isn't the argument.
That said your terrain is so wide open and prolonged steep, It would make sense to me to allow Class 2 to e-MX bikes on that particular terrain.

Mega happy for you mate! I'm fairly patient but dont want to miss out most of this season, especially as the end of july ETA isn;t firm. Looking like a toss up between this, Mith and the new Wild, whichever I'm ,likely to get in June/July the latest.
Trailz Bikes in the UK have small and medium frame only in stock, and have had for a few weeks now...

Thanks for the report. Regarding this point, didn't Avinox have a hill start mode?

Were you aware and already using it, am I mistaken, or did you not know about it?

Turn Quick start assist on. Found in the advanced menu. That will fix your low down tourqe. 🤟

Thanks for the tip. I already have set to on after the first ride and also the start assistance to max.

Just to be clear is not impossible to start from stand still in very steep terrain, it just requires more effort and more technique than with my old motor. Basically I need to spin it faster and put more pressure the pedal that requires more balance.

In the trails around here sometime there are tight switchback that I can't do uphill so I need to dismount, restarting is where I notice the difference. Here I'm going down (I do nose press switch) but when I come up-hill my technique is not good enough to do the switchback so I need to dismount to switch the bike. Restarting in these cases is where I notice the difference. It is the only thing that I find it worst that my pervious bike. Not a big issue but is something the DJI could further improve:

From what I have gathered, this characteristic is what gives the Avinox it's notable smooth and tractable feel. Most online influencers seem to prefer it over the more instantaneous delivery of the Bosch, with Alex being a notable exception (and also not Avinox sponsored).

I think you are right is probably a bit the nature of a more controlled traction and privilege more the cadence, but hey I take any day the DJI traction even if is harder to start, as I said I can climb things that was just not possible for me before with my old system.

As the Avinox push to walk can go up with me seated on these restarts, I think there is still something that could be done in firmware or maybe a push to start button :ROFLMAO: .
