Hello,

When I first read about these my thought was I don`t want or need any battery operated pump. Then I started to think that maybe it would be easy way to check and inflate the tires every time before ride what I do with pressure gauge and floor pump. After reading all the reviews I ordered cycplus pro. First test, empty tire, vow, this is so easy…and loud. Second test for the use why I bought it for, fill up couple of psi before ride, nothing, it just bursted some air and stopped. I tested it about twenty times, different wheels etc. but it worked only to empty tires. I was so dissapointed and returned it. I whatched all the reviews again and everybody just filling empty tires. I thought f*ck this sh*t but the my friend bought muc off airmach pro. I tested it and it works as I thought they all should work, just filling up couple of psi before ride. So maybe cycplus what I had was just broken…anyway I got the airmach pro also and it’s sweet, soooo easy now to fill up check pressures/fill up tires before ride and I probably take it to bigger rides for emergencies. So thumps up, at least in my case to airmach 😀

I have used the Cycplus with display to check and adjust psi all the time but I fill 2-3 psi more than I "want" since several reviews shows it's not calibrated perfect but that's no pumps - if I want 20 psi I fill 22 psi. Never tried to fill up a empty tire.
It's important to put the Cyclus correct on the valve otherwise it won't work properly.
The sound don't bother me and I have never seen or heard about a compressor not making loud sounds..
Sounds like you are in the warranty section.

have the cycplus too, doubles as a pump for the fork, so easy to change just one psi on the trail (only works with low pressure forks)

I got a CYCPLUS 150 PSI last year. It’s actually quite a bulky model (380 gm) since it can also be used for car tyres, but I only use it at home.

In my opinion it’s a must-have: easy to use, fast, and very precise. The battery life is excellent too, especially if you only use it for bicycle tyres. The charge seems to last forever. I’ve never had a single problem with it.

I bought a cheap (30,-) one from Aliexpress which looks exactly like the "branded" (90,-)one. My thoughts was: Maybe I buy a 30 bucks Noise Generator, let's find out. What should I say. Dialed in the pressure, put it on the valve, tire was pumped up. Since I got this little piece, I never used my floor pump again. Very impressive. I know it is not the most accurate pressure gauge but to be honest I don't care about +/- 2 psi

Yep, read a group test review & bought an Airbank mini pump. It doesn't have a display but then it's purpose is to get you out of trouble & here it is doing exactly that. No complaints.

Our Cycplus and 3 different SKS Aircheckers measure pretty much exactly the same. I don't use the Cycplus but my lad uses it all the time.... for some weird reason, i still use a manual pump :D

I’ve got a cycplus as well that I take with me on rides, it’s replaced my CO2 cartridge I used to shove in my pocket or backpack.

Like the OP I tried inflating a tyre from flat when I first got it, and whilst it did I didn’t get the impression it would do it again, but it works for my intended use which is to reinflate a tube if I get a puncture I can’t seal in my tubeless tyre setups.

The only thing that bugs me is needing to check its charged before a ride, which along with checking the AXS is charged, and the Garmin and the rear radar light is another bit of pre-ride admin!

I created a checklist for each different type of ride (commuting, multi-day, off-road) that I printed and put on the wall close to the ebike, to avoid forgetting critical items, as it happened in the past.

I have the BSCOBBER. $35 on Aliexpress. So popular with my fellow riders, I had to buy each of them one, so they stopped using mine.

I deflate my tyres completely after every ride to preserve my Tannus Armour Liners, and this pump makes it so easy to re-inflate.

It also recharges in about 15 mins from the USB-C port on my Avinox display. So it's no problem to run it flat.

I also bought a cheap one from AliExpress but can't figure out how to get it to attach to Presta valves. It appears to want to screw on, but the spokes would be in the way.

I find Topeak D2 to be the best and most accurate digital gauge since it got a rotating SmartHead which I don't have at the moment.

Mine came with Presta or Schrader fitting. The Presta fitting I've highlighted screws into the top of the pump, then just presses onto the presta valve.

I got myself a topeak e-booster digital mini.
Its small enough to fit in to the frame stash of my Orbea Rallon, has a display and fills a 2,4" Tire about 4 times from 0 to 1.6bar with one charge.

30 pound amazon job. Does car tires as well. Even seats tires on my bike. Fit tyre, set pressure and leave it to pump. Pops the beads as well. Never a need for a track pump again. Genuinely a game changer

Funnily enough I was watching comparison videos on electric bike pumps yesterday.

This one seemed the most useful and the Aerogogo Giga Pump got the best overall ratings from him, so tempted to try one of those. There doesn't seem to be many other reviews of them anywhere though.

Cycplus seem to be the most common but they appear to have sent loads of free ones out to YouTubers. That being said people seem to be happy with them, even if they did get lower scores in that group test.

YouTube'ers always get paid, free or kickback including those who tells you several times they don't.

Her is another review.

we sell them in the 1000s, no warranty case so far over 11 stores…

Can I say something?

I think these YouTube reviews are funny, but massively overrated. Like with most consumer products, a lot of these pumps probably share the same motors, electronics, and at least some of the internal components anyway, and in the end, they all do the job.

My rule is simple: avoid the ultra-cheap junk and the ridiculously overpriced models. I’ve bought hundreds of gadgets over the years following this tactic and, apart maybe from a couple of exceptions (I don't even remember those), they all did their damn job for years.

Then one day they die, and that’s it, usually independently by how much I spent and searched.

Did you read the instructions? My Cycplus is from their early days, and I think this was mentioned in the documentation. I could be mistaken, however, and maybe it was deleted from recent instructions.

Even on big compressors, you don't start it up under the load of air pressure. There's an "unloader valve" that allows the motor to spin up without the air pressure holding it back. Once up to speed, the unloader allows the compressor to start pumping air.

Of course your little hand-held compressor doesn't have an unloader valve. You should first turn on your hand-held compressor, and then stick it onto your Presta valve. From there, everything will be a-ok.

Yep. I can second this. When tyre is up to pressure and you are just adding 1 or 2 psi. Turn pump on before pressing onto valve.

Do any models come to mind which aren't super loud? Like wake the neighbours up when departing at 5am?

No , of course I didn’t 😂. But I can see from these answers that mine was broken and I should have asked my question then to save all the hazzle and could have returned it immediately. Anyway, Muc Off is easier to use, you don’t have to push it so deep than cycplus.

I’ve been totally impressed with my Silca pump; especially the battery. Not absolutely micro sized, but it’s small enough that I ride with it in a waist pack. It’s essentially my only pump besides my compressor.

So Tuesday night I did the top-up stans dance. (through the valve core)
Wednesday night, I get ready for the ride, flat front??
Pumped up with the track pump. Went on a ride. whilst waiting for the others, I did the squeeze test, had definitely gone down. Got to use my electric pump for the first time!! Wahoo, loads of noise, but did the job. Then again, about 5 minutes later, but it stayed up for the whole ride.
£30 well spent on AliExpress.
