Is there a power update for the 2025 bosch race available already ?

As mentioned by @Shark58. The other thing is to go via Bosch Flow App that shows software status of hardwares and if updates are available. You may want to check this to go on:
…or you could ask Greg for assistance.

BTW, what KTM bike model & year is it?

Happy Easter!🐣
Thanks for your kind reply ; my bike is a 2025 Ktm exonic prowler , on the site you mentioned i cannot find wether or not the powerupdate is available. happy easter too all.

Seems @Greg Watts is on Easter holidays. 🙂

Here the Goggle KI answer:
„Steps to adjust (100 Nm & 750 W):

Prerequisite: E-bike with the Smart System (BDU38) is registered in the eBike Flow app.

Perform the update: Open the app, connect the e-bike via Bluetooth and download and install the available software update ("Performance Update").

Activate 100 Nm: In the Flow app, go to "Settings" -> "Driving Modes" -> "Individualize Driving Modes".

Select the mode (e.g. Turbo) and push the slider for the "maximum torque" to 100 Nm.

Optional: Under "Max Power", increase the value to 750 watts.

Important information:

The upgrade is free of charge and available for newer Bosch engines.

The 100 Nm must be actively upgraded in the settings after the update, they are not automatically active.

Wear: The high torque increases the wear of the drivetrain (chain, sprocket).

If the option does not appear, your e-bike or motor model may not be approved for it.“

@Greg Watts
Please, can you help @dikkieduk and explain how to install and set Bosch CX from 85Nm to 100Nm via Bosch Flow App on his KTM ebike. Thank you.

Apologies for the delay. @dikkieduk, here is the full process.

Prerequisite: your KTM needs the Smart System (BDU380P chip). If it has the older Performance Line CX with a round display, this update does not apply — that motor caps at 85Nm regardless of software.

Step 1 — Register in the eBike Flow app
Download Bosch eBike Flow, create an account, and register your bike. The motor needs to be switched on and in Bluetooth range.

Step 2 — Install the Performance Update
Once registered, go to your bike profile in the app. If the update is available for your region and motor firmware, you will see a Performance Update notification. Install it — takes 2-3 minutes over Bluetooth.

Step 3 — Unlock 100Nm in your riding modes
The update does not automatically max out torque everywhere. You set it per mode:
Flow app → Settings → Driving Modes → Individualise Driving Modes → select a mode (e.g. Turbo) → drag Maximum Torque to 100Nm → save.
Repeat for each mode you want. You can also push Maximum Power to 750W in the same screen.

A couple of things worth knowing: the update is one-way, you cannot revert to 85Nm once applied. And regional availability varies — if the update is not appearing in the app after a few days, your KTM dealer can push it directly via the Bosch service tool.

Not on holiday, @Arminius, just fashionably late. I see you covered for me admirably with Google's help, and the instructions are essentially correct, so credit where it's due.

One small addition worth flagging for @dikkieduk: if the performance update doesn't appear in the Flow app straight away, community experience suggests it can be a multi-step affair. Some owners have found they need to update the Flow app itself first, restart their phone, then update the bike firmware, and then a separate performance update option appears. If after all that the 100Nm slider still doesn't show up, force-closing the app and reconnecting to the bike has been known to trigger it. And if none of that works, a dealer with the Bosch diagnostic tool can push it directly.

The "Race" branding on the motor shouldn't make a difference here, the CX Race (BDU384Y) is the same 100Nm/750W update path as the standard Gen 5 CX. But KTM's naming conventions can be confusing, so if @dikkieduk can confirm the exact drive unit code (visible in the Flow app under bike details), we can verify it's definitely the Smart System variant that's eligible.

EDIT: @Arminius reports The MACINA PROWLER EXONIC with Gen4 Race has 85Nm and cannot be updated to 100Nm. Only the newer MACINA PROWLER EXONIC CX-R with Gen5 Race (100Nm) supports that specification. The user must own the Ge. Not yet independently verified — take with a pinch of salt.

Worth noting based on @dikkieduk's own experience: running the 100Nm setting appears to carry a thermal caveat. Overheating has been reported after around 20km in race mode, which suggests the 100Nm adjustment may not be safely sustainable on all bikes or in all conditions. Something to factor in before committing to that setting full-time.

EDIT: Corrected to reflect that 100Nm operation can cause overheating issues — dikkieduk's bike experienced this after ~20km in race mode, so the adjustment being technically available doesn't necessarily mean it's problem-free in practice. Thanks @dikkieduk for the heads up.

Again thank you very much.

Here is my dilemma:

Last october i have tried to update via the flowapp , all going well until 72 percent update and then the system froze.

Result ; bike not working anymore.
Went to the local Lbs, they contacted bosch and tried to solve the problem via Teams combined with using their dealersoftware; problem not solved , so motor had to be sent back to bosch.
After 2 weeks motor returned from bosch (under warranty no costs).
But still not the 100Nm available ; a phonecall to the dutch importer said it would not apply
to this model ( Yet......?? )

So you can imagine i am a bit anxious to go over the same process again...........

Being nosy I checked some more. I found KTM websites during earlier searches for a Macina trekking ebike confusing and incomplete.
However, looks like still today KTM is offering two bikes Exonic:
MACINA PROWLER EXONIC (website KTM) - with Gen4 Race (85Nm) - SRP 11999 EUR
MACINA PROWLER EXONIC CX-R (website KTM) - with Gen5 Race (100Nm) - SRP 12199 EUR

Looks like you must have bought the Gen4 model, means no update for 100Nm. 🤷‍♂️ Nevertheless updating via app should be working. Make sure having full batteries on bike and phone as well as a stable internet connection (preferably WLan). Have done it a couple of times on my eMTB Gen4 and the trekking bike Gen5 (not using the 100Nm) with absolutely no issues. I start wondering if I will skip upcoming updates as there is not much really new / usefull coming anymore.

Just to add ; might be a difficult think to run 100Nm with the bosch ,because my bike is already getting overheating issues
after approx 20km in race mode.

@dikkieduk
If you want to check wich Race motor can be updated to 100 Nm you don't have to go to the Bosch firmware page because the newest version has the identical number regardless of with or without performance update.

You need to go to the Bosch product page and select drive units. The data for the two different Race motors looks like this
Bildschirmfoto 2026-04-05 um 17.59.20.webp
The BDU376Y is based on the old CX gen4 and therefore can't be upgraded to 100 Nm / 750 W.
The new Race motor BDU386Y is based on the CX gen 5 and can be upgraded to 100 Nm / 750 W.

If you don't know which model you have, check the Flow app. Go to your bike, open settings, select components and tap the motor. On the next screen you will see the full model number starting with BDU3.

Good luck.

Hi,
Graag gedaan. For me the 85Nm are enough for the Gen4 eMTB and I do mainly use Tour+, in complicated uphills eMTB+ modes. On my Gen5 trekking ebike I could set it to 100Nm but even with some longer uphills on my commuting route I do not see the need for it.

Just enjoy riding. Het gras is altijd groener aan de overkant! 😉👍
