Hi, I saw a post on a FB page today from someone stating they’ve been unsuccessful trying to install the 120nm update.
Then someone claiming to be from Bosch HQ in the UK chipped in stating due to the amount of UK registered emtbs being hacked to USA speed limits they will now be blocking the latest update to gen5 motors and also will be retrospectively dialling back any motor that’s already been updated OTA back to the original settings.
In addition any motor that has been illegally speed hacked will find their motor completely inoperative very soon.
Is this utter BS/fake news or am I tripping????
I honestly can’t see Bosch doing something like this in this current power race sales market surely?
Polite answers on the back of a postage stamp puulease.
Sorry if I’m late to the table posting this-too busy riding lol.

What fb group did you see this on? I can’t see that happening. That’s going to make a lot of Bosch owners angry and potentially lose customers. I doubt that’s true.

Lots of people had issues getting the update and just had to reinstall the app, or whatever. People probably just fear mongering

There are possibly some half truths in the statement by the supposed Bosch UK HQ person. Any update modification to a bike is only possible via the combination of an Internet connection and blutooth when using the Flow App ( or via a connection to the Bosch app at a dealer), meanwhile all the brands have an obligation to do what they can to prevent derestriction in their firmware. The recent update having been implemented by so many recently may well have disclosed the scale of various hacks and the need to take action. Maybe avoid any future updates if you have hacked your bike?

I've seen that thread, it's bogus. If you read through the later comments from the person they are just winding people up., definitely not genuine.
