Pre-order starts next month - Next Crestline Avinox frame set

this whole dropper length discussion is basically just a math problem everybody that attended school should be able to solve on their own

you know your current saddle height, you know the frame height, the max insertion and the length of the seatpost. why is that a problem for so many?
Some brands make it difficult to find some of those number in my experience

Well, I drank the Kool-Aid and snuck into the Forged carbon frames they dropped this morning, that color was too sexy to pass up. Will be selling my Forbidden Druid Core come June.
Super excited for everyone that snags one of these and the team edition!! Its kind of funny feeling seeing these drop as we are still waiting for the Plaid edition. I was trying to think of a way to describe it and this is the best I got…

Its like breaking up with a girl you really cant stand, but she is smokin hot, then seeing her with a new guy two days later… you’re happy, but also like damn that was quick. 😂😂

Can anyone get on the Crestline website? I’ve been trying since yesterday around 6.
Yes.
Here is whats left of the forged

yes, still involves math. and that seems like a huge obstacle for some here. or a lack of spatial imagination
For someone with over 900 (!?!?) posts, its wild that you are complaining about "unnecessary" posts. Especially given the quality of information that you provide. It seems more like an old man shouting "get off my lawn" at the kids having fun. It is possible to relax, scroll past annoying posts, or even better- provide answers if you have them. That's all I'm here for is answers to questions and to help others who are excited about these cool toys we bought as we wait for them to arrive.

Did you even order a frame? Or are you here to yell at the kids for playing on your lawn? lol

And for the record- I did not ask the question of what size post is needed, I provided some answers based off my research- for those that may be in the same position as me. Anyway-off for a ride!

Idk who this seth guy is but dude clearly has too much time on his hands being a condescending dick on an emtb forum 😂 really does give off that ‘get off my lawn’ energy

Hi, does anyone know what duties, customs clearance fees, and VAT I’ll have to pay to receive just the frame in Europe, specifically Italy?

in the eu usually (product price + shipping) * customs % * local VAT %

customs on bike parts/frames used to be 4.7%, as this is partly made in china there could be higher customs

I like how the battery is protected with GX.

A buddy broke the tab hole for the battery on his XO and Its the one part of the derailleur you can not buy and replace. He currently zip ties the battery on and his reasoning is he can buy several batteries over a whole new derailleur.

SRAM refused to warranty it per usual. I actually have never heard of SRAM covering anyone's warranty that has had an issue with one of their products.

I'm still debating going to the cable transmission; or maybe Shimano, because Shimano is just fucking better in every way.
Same happened to me. No warranty because it's obviously a crash that broke it and they are right. I was especially dissappointed because I had several XO AXS derailleurs warrantied for just a weak clutch in the past. But I suppose if they cave from their talking point they'll end up having to do a recall or something after admitting the design flaw.

I'm currently going back and forth on buying an XO drive train before sea otter just in case SRAM comes out with new XX and XO variants of Transmission Derailleurs. I figure they I identified the battery door problem and addressed it before releasing the GX variant. Was thinking maybe enough time has passed where they would updated the XX/XO versions.

Wow, times are a changing, you can actually have a choice of Crestline's actually available TODAY!!

I am tossing a couple in my cart just cause I can.. no purchase though, I got the PLAID coming!!

An interesting hodge podge of XO, XX, GX drivetrain stuff, guess they are pretty much similar as most of us agreed. Looks like whatever was laying around become the "build" more than reasoning for selecting each component, I dunno.

And a 180mm fork on the 200 travel is not what I would have expected, but sounds quite intriguing and looks so SEXY!

You guys are right, my head was spinning with the new options!

Only the frame has the "option" to add the 200mm link. I see the complete bike Speed Shop Team Edition comes with the 180mm fork and does not seem to offer the 200mm option.

Only 50 forged frames too, wonder if Cascade will sell these 200mm links separately down the road..

Got in on the forged carbon drop this morning too!

Does anyone know if the sizes have the same rear triangle for the 29 vs MX versions? The RH4 only had an MX option but the other sizes had both an MX and 29er option. I was hoping to use the 29er wheels from my current rig.
Congratz, glad you scored one and welcome to the "Crest-line"!!

I think the rear triangle is the same across sizes, however the dropouts appear to be designed for either MX or 29 looking at the options:

Thanks! Troydon emailed me yesterday confirming the 29er 450mm dropouts for my RH4 order.

Troydon is keeping up with some great service considering how busy he must be lately! Great to hear you are all set.

To clarify, he is swapping your order to the 29er drop outs and not saying the MX works with a 29er right?!

Yes, that's how I read the email from him. I would assume the dropouts would be slightly different between MX and 29er to keep the same BB height (i.e. the axle hole would be lower for the MX dropout), but I could be wrong.

Any guess as to what the new bikes will weigh with the 600wH battery? I’m thinking 50+lbs with coil and 180mm forks.

If you go back a few pages i posted my bike weight and setup. Briefly, rh3, 600wh, coil - 50.3lbs with pedals.

There really shouldn’t be much weight change between a 181.1 and .2 aside from any potential motor weight changes assuming a gen 2 avinox is correct.

Gen 2 avinox I think will be marginally heavier along with the speculated batteries but we're talking maybe 100-200g tops probably. I thought you'd be a bit under 50lb with the 600wh battery but I guess you'd need an airshock to be sub 50. My druid core 800wh with a flash 38, intend rear air shock, schwalbe gravity radials, and wireless dropper is 51.15lb with pedals. I bet the same build on a 600wh crestline would probably be closer to 48ish If I had to guess

Weight on an emtb?! Heck yeah it matters!!

I have seen a few 600wh RH2 builds going under 49 pounds out there - eg fanatik, pinkbike, but these are the Spectre's which may be a touch lighter for M1 vs M2 revision speculation we are hearing.

A bit more weight where the motor sits is a welcome addition to the weight however in my thinking. It's a lot about balance and where the weight sits too of course for optimal handling!!

Without actual frame weights it is not really feasible to estimate with full accuracy, I am wishfully thinking she is going to end up at 48~ pounds, but anything around 50 is going to be a game changer for me!

Curious with all the adjustability for geo on these frames, is anyone modifying the Chain stay length or grabbing a Works headset right out the gate, or is the plan to test the bike as is and tune accordingly?

Mine is an RH2 with the 440 cs which puts the front to rear center balance right at the 1.8 to 1 zone for a balanced ride.

I'm 5'10" and the size chart recommends the +5 headset reach, but I think I may be right at home with the slightly shorter reach based on my current bike.

I find I like a bit more stack and less reach than the "usual" geo specs just to fit myself better and keep me a bit more upright and less weight on my hands for seated positions.

Anyone going for longer or shorter, and why?

Ordered the 460mm 27.5 dropouts, but I'm RH4, so just to get it more balanced for me. I'd run the 460/465 29" dropouts if I had a 29er wheelset.

Suggest you ride it first and see how you like it. Everyone's riding style and proportions are different. I'm 5'7" with a +2" ape index and currently on a 181.1 RH-2 and prefer a 445 cs. I prefer longer cs ever since having my forbidden muscle bike. Ordered a works reach headset originally but never got around to installing it because I liked the way it rode. Crestline's geometry is pretty modern but they're not extreme.

Thanks for the feedback gents,

Definitely going to run it for a while as is before making any changes other than some fine tuning bar, spacer, and saddle adjustments.

Seems to take some time to get used to a new bike before I can really determine how I think I may be able improve things.

On paper specs look pretty much perfect for me out of the box, or close enough for me to get it working the way I like!

Kind of stunned the complete bikes are still available in so many options...

Seems like a smokin deal on a premium build package they are offering for $12k?!!

Bosch versions were always available for a time after release. The frenzy only started when they hit the market with Avinox before most... that advantage is gone and much less expensive options are not far away.
