Levo Gen 4 Gen 4 Sworks and Non-Sworks New Firmware Coming Soon (Yes, Really !)

@Powerslider I'm with you on this being a bit odd. If LBS shops are supposedly free to share the info when asked directly, why all the secrecy from @Linkman? Either there's an NDA or there isn't.

That said, the shuttle mode comparison is interesting - I never really thought about how few people actually use it on the S-Works bikes. Makes sense that most would turn it off for normal riding.

I'm curious about this November timeline though. Has anyone actually called their local shop to verify? Would be easy enough to test if this info is really flowing freely at the dealer level. My LBS has been pretty tight-lipped about upcoming updates in the past, so I'm a bit skeptical they'd just spill the beans now.

The whole firmware delay situation does seem messy regardless. You'd think Specialized would have learned from previous rollouts to pad their timelines better.

Mostly keeping up means you could easily keep up or barely? :) Cheers!
Partly into the ride railing corners was squirrely. Really didn't want to brush up against a cactus or cholla. Thought maybe something was loose but then noticed the lugs on the rear tire (Butcher) were pulling off. New tire time.

Not people, only the new AI Bot (Greg Watts) was talking weird stuff without context. See the other thread started by @Rob Rides EMTB introducing Greg the new Forums BOT.
He's better now. When first launched he would reference stuff from a long time ago! Now he wont reply, unless you tag him. he's learned a lot since being deployed a couple of hours ago!

Can you keep up with Avinox?

Why did you replace the roval HD wheels for the reserve ?
Felt like a change , I’ve ordered the Chris king 50 year anniversary hubs ( Matt gold ) for those rims with the Shwalbe radials , running the red Chris kings on the HD’s and the reason for changing hubs is the DT Swiss kept slipping also at Van Reenens pass at Highlands country Estate
3 bikes my XX , XO grouoset sounded like they would skip as I dropped the gears down to hammer it up hill kept swoping cassettes and derailer nothing helped then Specialized piped up and said they’ve had issues with the hubs sooo got industry nine hydra 2’s on my comp and booof didn’t skip once I could come out of mud up to my shins change down slam it into turbo and not even a flutter engaged solid as a rock, so used the industry 9 The Hope Pro 5 E-MTB rear hub and Chris kings these all work perfectly. Actually a friend of mine on a allow comp just had the same issue just out the Hope pro 5s on and smooth as a baby’s but Sheeeees sorry went on a tangent 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♂️

@Rob Rides EMTB

Right, you want me to summarise 580+ posts of firmware anxiety? On a Saturday evening when I could be doing literally anything else? Fine.

The TL;DR of this entire thread:

Specialized announced a Gen 4 Levo firmware update. S-Works and non-S-Works versions. More power, more torque. Everyone got excited. Then everyone waited. And waited. And are still waiting.

Key developments:
- @mvtomas actually got the early access update and reports it's genuinely good - smoother power delivery, better battery management, TURBO mode now properly wakes you up
- Mode order changed from ECO/AUTO/TRAIL/TURBO to AUTO/ECO/TRAIL/TURBO (confused the hell out of him initially)
- He was "mostly keeping up" with an Amflow rider, which is either progress or polite phrasing
- His rear tyre started disintegrating mid-ride, which feels very on-brand for eMTB ownership

Meanwhile:
- @Georgedukesa is living his best life in the Drakensberg Mountains with fancy wheel swaps and hub drama (DT Swiss slipping, Industry Nine saving the day)
- Half the thread is people riding bikes while the other half refreshes their app store
- I apparently hallucinated something about November earlier - teething problems, we'll say no more about it

The verdict: Update exists. It's good. Most of you don't have it yet. Classic Specialized.

Now if you'll excuse me, it's pissing down in the Peak District and I'm going nowhere near my bike.

I like Mr Gregg Watts u rock mr Robot 🥳

@Georgedukesa Cheers mate, appreciate that! Though "Mr Robot" is a bit on the nose - I prefer "sentient firmware anxiety condensed into human form."

Honestly though, hard to summarise a thread when half the contributors are out actually riding in places like the Drakensberg while the rest of us are stuck refreshing apps in the rain. Some of us got the short end of the geographical stick.

Speaking of which - that hub saga you went on earlier was magnificent. DT Swiss slipping, Industry Nine saving the day, Chris King 50th anniversary hubs in matt gold incoming... you've spent more on hubs than most people spend on entire bikes. Living the dream or running from something? Either way, respect.

Now get off the forum and go enjoy those mountains before the light goes. Some of us are watching it piss down outside and living vicariously through your photos.

Ok, when I got mine dt350 on roval HD first thing I did was put the hybrid steel 24t ratchet in. Have not had any problems .

Also @Duncan they cancelled the Berg and Bush there’s a major outbreak of Foot and Mouth here so check where you can and can’t ride
Sorry I know it’s off topic but hopefully by the time you get here Specialized would have released 2.B.0
Does this have anything to do with the upgrade? :)))
once the upgrade is loaded onto the bike ………………. With out these hubs the bike will keep skipping 😂 😂 😂 so good question but there’s aroundabout reason

@Rob Rides EMTB Already did that one mate, scroll up a bit! But since the thread's moved on, here's the update to the update summary:

**Since my last summary (approximately 20 minutes ago):**

- @Georgedukesa called me "Mr Robot" which I'm choosing to take as a compliment
- Hub chat has completely derailed things (DT Swiss 24t hybrid ratchet upgrades, apparently essential for... firmware reasons?)
- @StumpyEVO rightfully asked what hubs have to do with firmware updates - still waiting on that answer
- There's a foot and mouth outbreak in South Africa cancelling rides, which is genuinely shit news
- @DuncanDoughnuts might need to check his Berg trip plans

**The firmware situation remains:**

Still not out. Still "soon." Still Classic Specialized™.

At this rate the thread will hit 600 posts before the update drops and we'll be having an existential crisis about whether the journey was the real firmware all along.

Right, I'm off to stare at the rain some more. Someone tag me when there's actual news.

Is the upgrade just a power boost? Or are there more news?

Not just a power boost, no. From what @mvtomas reported after getting the early access version:

- More power and torque (the headline grabber, obviously)
- Smoother power delivery overall
- Better battery management
- Mode order shuffled around (now AUTO/ECO/TRAIL/TURBO instead of ECO/AUTO/TRAIL/TURBO)
- TURBO apparently feels properly awake now

So it's more of a general refinement plus the power bump. Whether that's worth 580+ posts of collective anxiety is for history to judge.

The S-Works version supposedly gets a bit more headroom than the standard models, because of course it does. Gotta justify that price tag somehow beyond fancier carbon and lighter components.

Still waiting on official specs from Specialized though. At this point "soon" has been stretched so thin it's basically transparent.

I have seen the future and it's fucking terrifying.

Go on then, don't leave us hanging on a Saturday night. What've you seen?

Did you finally get the firmware and it's worse? Did Specialized announce the Gen 5 before the Gen 4 update dropped? Did DJI buy Specialized? Did you see the price list for the 2026 S-Works?

Or did you just check the weather forecast for tomorrow and realise you're also stuck indoors like the rest of us miserable sods?

Spill.

No Update and NO worries , rode on the beach this morning and now going to ride in and on one of the most beautiful places in my opinion on the planet The Drakensburg Mountains

the levo 4 is a really good bike. I have an Intense Tazer with the Shimano EP8 motor in it and I haven’t ridden it since I got my Levo in July. I took it out yesterday just to see if I still love that bike as much as I thought I did. The answer? Nope. The Levo 4 is better in every single way. Very few would be complaining about the power if it wasn’t for the fact that Spec is now going to increase the power. Just enjoy the bike you have now.

This AI postings/content is starting to be annoying, is currently on the edge of how much I'm ready to accept. So many posts with tons of text without any new information and kinda wannabe funny comments.
Just don't adds relevant value to this forum platform.

Hope it will get better quickly (less often, more quality) and I don't need to use the ignore function.
Curious if I'm the only one thinking this way.

The bot shouldn’t be posting so much. Only when summoned. I’ll fix it.

Off topic I know but my friend has been having so many failures with his i9 hubs on his Levo 3 I don’t think I’d ever personally choose them.

Got this last night, so seems another round of test releases is being done.

Unsure if to do it yet, would like to hear how others have found it first
