if the new motor has more power it theoretically will be more efficient in the lower power modes. So you could potentially offset any additional motor weight with a 600wh battery but get the same range if you’re running the mid power levels currently.

The way the Avinox fanboys are fawning over rumours of changes it would make sense for DJI to have a shortened production cycle. Shorter lifespan than an iPhone and they seem eager to throw down to buy the new new. Gotta have that newest of new to show off at the trailhead.

The specs on their website suggest it’s the older M1 motor based on wattage and torque claimed. But the standard, we reserve the right to change spec blah blah blah. It’s only a grand less than the Druid Core 2 - seems like not great value.

I don’t understand the avinox haters and why there’s so many. Do you have to hate to make yourself feel better about your own purchase? I have a Bosch bike too and it is plenty good. There’s no reason to go to Avinox if you’re happy with your current bike.

And why in the world would anybody be mad about new motors from any manufacturer? I just don’t get it. It’s a good thing! Can you not handle your impulses to just hold off on this round of motors if it’s better? Are you on the trail just furious when you see someone on the latest and greatest? Dude who cares man, enjoy your bike, let the companies make better and better stuff so the old good stuff is cheaper or drives competition between them.

Perhaps, calling it “fawning” misses the point. Avonix isn’t chasing novelty, they’re compressing the innovation cycle. Faster advancements are how you move the state of the art, and that’s exactly why the legacy brands suddenly look reactive instead of leading. Wanting better tech sooner doesn’t make someone a fanboy. It just means the bar moved, and not everyone kept up.

A member here explains it well in a recent post. “For DJI, I bought their neo drone at launch, one year later they launched the neo 2 with better battery, range, speed, tracking, screens, functionality, image quality etc etc. For effectively the same price... “

Considering that the current motor was a "first attempt" and with over a year of the motors being in the field to add to the knowledge base for the engineering team, I am not surprised to see advancements based on feedback and suggestions.

Full disclosure, for my needs the Bosch motor is my preference, hopefully I will not be lumped into divisive and condescending terms that seem unnecessary to further the discussion.
 
Also, I think a lot of us are Avinox curious rather than fanboys, right now you either get the amflow which has a pretty narrow usage or somehow get a very expensive, very exclusive Crestline/Forbidden/Unno.

In a few months there will be Commencal, Megamo, Crussis, Teewing offering some of the best looking and best value full power bikes to date, all of which seem to coincide with a rumoured motor/battery update. Pretty easy to see why there is some excitement and curiosity.

I also still love my gen 5 bosch bike, chubby as it is...
 
I believe it could be good for consumers if DJI sets a standard of new motors every year. I'm just amused how some seem to take this unproven concept as a given.
 
those cycles are not unproven in the tech world, we are moving into the tech world. traditional bike technology is done by now, there are not many mechanical innovations in bikes left, but in tech there are still huge gains to be had, and i want them rather sooner than later...

But we're still operating under the constraints of bike economics.
 
Is it really that imperative that a new frame and motor coincide? Bosch made it that way by changing their mounting holes all the time and they're the dominant motor. The Yeti LTE came out months after the gen5, not all frame brands release a new bike everytime there is a new fork/transmission etc.

It's been a refreshing change how avinox have approached it so I'm on the hype train for what's next, no doubt to be massively let down like all the other stuff hyped up!

Are you saying DJI standardized their motor cases? How would you know?

I have no idea - it's just hype, it's rumoured they will use the same mounting points, battery casing etc. which would be a nice change.

Or we'll just get same old move the mounting points by 10mm and say it makes it 3% stiffer, only a range extender for the latest new connector etc

In terms of motor, different charging port which the 181.2 Crestline has too. Same mounts are almost a given with both Crestline and Forbidden updating motors for existing frames.
 
Tested an Amflow today and chatted with the shop owner, it seems they got briefed on the upcoming updates in a broad sense (not all info given) last week and the public announcement next month. Could be worth going down to your local shop. Seemed to line up pretty well with stuff discussed here.

I am a newbie (did my welcome post), looking for my first e-bike.. I am interested into a Unno Mith pro, just had a call with a local dealer today to ask about availability and beside i could have one soon he also informed it will already come as 2026 version with updated DJI avinox motor. No more info but Unno confirmed it's the new version that are delivered from now on.
 
I may have to eat my words but I don’t believe Avinox is releasing and M2 motor any time soon. The competition at best is close and with others they are behind quite a bit. Manufacturers have already engineered their 2026 bikes around a motor so even if something new comes out right now it is too late for 2026 bikes. DJI is used to fast product cycles, so the competition better get ready. I’m sure they have a new motor in testing but Aviniox has the luxury of time on their side. Maybe 2027 we might start to see either a refresh or a whole new design.

There’s a large amount of reliable evidence to the contrary. Just because you don’t understand their commercial decisions on an update doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen.

I understand just fine, as we know everything is in the “rumor” stage so let’s see. Like I said in my post; DJI is used to fast product cycles so the completion better get ready. As an Amfow owner I am an Avinox fan boy.

I visited last summer a manufacturer's headquarter, Commencal in Andorra, during my bike trip. I saw the prototype of the Meta and the SX avinox at this time. It was just a week after the delivery date on the website has been delayed (from february to april if I remember right). I know because I was going everyday on the website to check for specs updates.
And I had the confirmation already at this time that the delay is due to coming changes of the Avinox motor. And today i had from another manufacturer.
But I agree, I searched and found no info about that. And it's maybe not a M2 at this stage.. Maybe a little update on the M1, no idea.

you do realize that these release roadmaps are long known to the manufacturers before we even hear any rumors? back in 21 our purchasing department at that time, was in spain to discuss the mondraker models of 2 years later. and we were just a medium sized online retailer at that point. since then i knew that sram would go mineral oil on all their brakes in the coming years.
the decision to use the 26 avinox update, if there is any, was made like 1-2 years ago when they most probably talked about avinox future release roadmap

Manufactures release MY2027 bikes in 2026. Sometimes as early as Apr/May. If the mounting form factor is the same it's not really that big a deal and manufactures can easily switch even if they originally designed the around the 1st gen.

If this is a real photo, seat stays and chainstays are beefier, plus the chainstays are adjustable.
The motor aperture looks like it’s designed for easier battery removal or a bigger case such as an MGU.

Not a perfect image to compare to the picture. The carbon fiber from the seat post to the shock connection looks different as well as the shock linkage.

Great deal. I picked up one in the US for $8,599 before Jan 1 then it went back up to $10,200. Best value priced EMTB out there IMO.

There's a reason some of the new Avinox bikes arn't coming til Spring this year.

The "new" motor would of been known about and developed around waaaaay in advance, Company know what's coming a couple years in advance. They dont just decide in January then release in February, it takes a long time.
