HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hope everyone is doing well, and wishing you all the very best for 2026.

Sorry if I've been slow to answer any emails. Been juggling holidays plus trying to get things lined up to send out pre order info.

Quick note for anyone who asks: I should be sending out the pre-order email in about a week—most likely Saturday, January 10th.

I’m in the process of getting the website updated and all the options loaded. I’m not exactly a web wizard, so it takes me a bit longer, but most of it is coming together now.

Please note that the release timing on these frames is affected by parts and/or components that are currently under manufacturer embargo. Because of that, I won’t be able to openly discuss any details or give an exact ship date just yet, but rest assured, you’ll be getting the latest and greatest as soon as that date hits. Please be mindful in how this information is shared and avoid statements like "Troydon says..." :) This will aid in not getting me in trouble for things I have not said. haha

I’m genuinely excited about this one. What I will say is that this is the quietest Crestline frame I’ve ever ridden, both on the way up and, more importantly, on the way down.

Cheers to 2026! If you make it through Bellingham or up to Whistler this year, don’t hesitate to shoot me an email, I’d love to get a ride in with any or all of you if I am around when you pass through.

It would appear that the collective optimism that the 'Avinox' rebrand would successfully paper over the fact that the DJI ebike system incorporates wireless tech that makes it subject to the US embargo was... optimistic.

Rob, do you see a way for Avinox / DJI to dodge the embargo for their ebike systems by eliminating their smart phone connection requirement, or are there other intrinsic aspects of the system that rely on wireless tech (Bluetooth remote, sensors, etc.)?

I don't think the ban will extend to Avinox, as the parts have already been FCC certified (remote and screen). Thats what the phone connects to, and how BLE operates (between controllers and screen).

If there is any reason that it is added to the ban list, then the quick and easy solution from Avinox to implement would be to disable bluetooth completely on US bikes, and not require registration on the first ride. Use the screen button to change modes.

Troydon is referring to Avinoxs embargo on releasing information about whatever new is on the bike. Not the embargo you're thinking of.

Got my pre-order in through a shop. Well, hoping that means they have some allocated I guess?

For you guys that already have one, is it too much to go dual crown? I’m thinking I’ll just go with a Zeb, but I’ve seen a few dual crown crestlines and man it looks fun and I know the Avinox won’t have a problem moving the bike on the climbs. I’ve never actually ridden a dual crown bike though so idk how big the hit on turn radius is on climbs or if it’s even noticeable.
It really depends what you want to do with the bike.

A 200mm triple will suck up the chunk and make the bike more of a bruiser. But it will also make it less standard trail friendly on the easier tracks.

Effectively it will lean it more towards a self shuttling dh bike rather than a around big travel do it all machine.

I'm trying hard to convince myself not to buy a .2 after already having a .1 but that just shows how amazing this bike is, it's worth wasting hard earned money. I told myself that if it has an idler I'll buy (knowing it won't) otherwise I'll sit on my hands. Big mental gymnastics going on over here.
Why the hell bother? unless you have money burning a hole in ya pocket or the bike isnt performing as you want and the new bike will solve the problem then ya just wasting money for boasting sake.

Ride ya glorious bike.

Jeez that had my head spun. Stoked to have been confused... english is my only language but that clearly doesn't mean I've mastered it.

What a relief (!). Thanks for the kindly worded clarification.

Thanks, Rob. Looks like I massively misconstrued the word "embargo"...

Troydon was referring to the industry insider hush hush surrounding an unreleased product but my head jumped right to defcon 5 / US trade wars.

I stand happily corrected.

This certainly won't be a normal bike purchase in the sense that your bike isn't in the back of a shop and all the mechanic has to do is assemble it. Mostly because Troydon is so far ahead of the game since he can operate quickly and there's timing concerns with Avinox embargo. Purchase with a little faith and trust, I'm sure it'll be worth it!

Zero other bikes on the market that check all my boxes (balanced geo, long travel, not a wallowy aluminum brick) and obviously Troydon is personally invested and accountable.

I’m hopeful if this round is just an updated version 1 motor, I can purchase the “quiet” parts to install or an entire updated quiet motor. As I prefer my “Battleship grey” RS181 over white……although white would be my second choice!

I'm also very interested if buying the motor a la carte is an option.

It's going to interesting to watch the reactions if there's not a second-gen DJI motor in this frame.
Probably doesn’t matter too much. I feel majority buyers are who currently don’t have a DJI bike. Not seeing an alternative long travel DJI frame in the US.

I see some people assuming a gen 2 motor is a given. Mark my words, there’s gonna be some real whining if they’re wrong.

As long as there’s truth to the quiet on the way down part I’d be happy. I rented a bike with a Shimano motor a while back and decided I definitely would be annoyed with a rattle on the way down. Which led me to a Specialized bike. Hoping there’s something to this newest Avinox to take care of that.

I think I'd only be annoyed if the RS181.2 came with an M1 while everyone else was coming out with a M2 at the same time. Not so much for the power increase (wouldn't use it anyway)... but more because at these prices I'd expect the newest available version of the motor.

Troyden has already stated to many people that the new Crestie will be quiet both up and down. That's not a frame change; it's a motor change or modification.

I'm 100% certain that Troy has chosen/ purchased whatever the top motor available from Avinox will be for Spring 2026 production. He didn't cheap out, I assure you.

If the release date is spring then I'm more optimistic about a gen 2 motor but I'll be surprised if we hear of a new motor in January. I'm operating on the assumption that the new Crestline will be debuted in January and that feels too soon for a gen 2 motor. That's the basis of my thinking. Well, that and if I'm the brand manager of Amflow I'd be lobbying the leaders of DJI to let the newest motor be exclusive to Amflow for the first half of 2026. Otherwise I'm not bullish on Amflow's future.

Release/shipping date and Avinox related information for the new frame is embargoed by Avinox. They wouldn't be doing that if there wasn't something new.

you can sell a frame with an avinox motor without stating which model you will receive in the end. ever read the fine print under bike specs? if not, do, maybe you learn something new...

I'm pretty certain it will be the gen 2 motor as it coincides with the spring 2026 rumor. Vendors are under a NDA and cannot say anything until specified. Even if it was a gen 1 motor and they got rid of the rattle that's still a plus. There's nothing more I would want out of the current avinox motor besides getting rid of the rattle.

We have to remember DJI doesn't operate like bosch, specialized or shimano. They like to release new products similar to their drones.

How do you know the embargo is by Avinox? Just as easy to envision an embargo by the shock manufacturer.

A spring release lines up with ship dates, supposed to be pre orders January with estimated shipping dates March/april. Vague motor info at presale wouldn’t be unreasonable then official announcement closer to actual ship dates.
