What's happened to auto spell/correct?

When I type stuff into this forum, my fumble fingers make mistakes. An extremely helpful feature corrected this for me, or at least pointed out the errors. I don't know whether it is some software in the Forum or something in my laptop. But the function has stopped in the Forum, but works elsewhere, so I suspect it's the Forum. Any suggestions as how to restore this useful function? :)

My autocorrect works just fine …especially when I don’t want it to. 😡

there is a time honoured way to correct you spelling or grammar..............go back and read your post before posting it! Old fashioned I know, but effective!

You better go back and read your post again. 🤦

Slowly this time. 👍🏻

Edit; *re-read* (f-en autocorrect)😡

That is what I do, all the time. You won't find too many errors in any of my posts.
But since the auto-correct/spellcheck function stopped working, it has demonstrated how bad my typing actually is. It is now taking longer to type a post.

I think Steve is channelling Stanley
I remember Stanley Unwin! That was YEARS ago!! He never had his own program, just featured on those of others. One in particular was Candid Camera.
Fortunately, I don't mumble my worms, I just fuss up my tipping! But then I correct it (mostly).

Programme. He wasn't a computer guy. 🤣
Well spotted, that distinction is a UK English "thing". But the USA for example use program for both. As I was replying to a Brit, I should have used programme. The English of course are guardians of the english language. Everyone else don't speak it proper like they oughta.

I went into settings on my laptop and enabled auto correct. Of the various settings it was the only one not switched to ON. It doesnt appear to bhe wroking, so maybe it neds a restrat. I'll go dod one right now.

Go on, have a good laugh, I have now fixed it (sort of). It's not autocorrect, but a little box now appears that shows me options whenever I type something it doesn't recognise. But this option only works on the word I'm typing. If I type without looking at the word (I'm normally looking at the keyboard), the options move on, leaving the typo behind.

Still not what it used to be, but better than it was recently. :)

This is a bit weird! I regularly post on a completely unrelated forum (AV stuff) which in appearance looks to be the same type as this one and up until recently it definitely had an active spelling checker (misspelled word was highlighted and stayed that way prior to posting) but it no longer does so! As far as I rember I have never seen spell checking in this forum though.:(

Are you using Firefox as your browser? I have checked with the other forum and if I use Edge spelling mistakes are highlighted with a red wavy underrline, I then tried this forum also with Edge and it also shows the same for spelling mistakes here. I got a response on the other forum from someone using the same version of Fiefox as me and they claim the spell check is working for them. The plot thickens!o_O
