We're working on a few minor frame updates we are super excited about
that optimize things a touch more and result in an even better rider
experience. I can't wait to share this next version of the bike with

I don't see how they could make it any lighter.

CF frames pretty much weigh, what they weigh, the rest is the motor package and build.

I doubt those changes would happen though I would like to see the cascade links and dropouts in carbon. I'll pay whatever for that!

Even if it did drop 1-2 lbs I'd be smart just to skip 181.2.
 
There may be an updated/V2 AVINOX motor being used, if Troydon is stating that it’s quieter going up and DOWN.
I love the color way of my RS181.1, but if there is a super quiet AVINOX V2 coming out that would be a direct bolt-in that I could purchase, I’d be interested. (Hopefully at a upgradable price discount 🤞🏻)
I wonder what color way the next batch will be??

White and raw carbon is my educated guess.
 
I have to admit this is the only DJI bike that I like, mainly because it has the best application of removeable battery I've seen with the DJI.

I also think it was the best application with the Bosch too. I would love this bike with the new changes (205x65 shock, dropout options) with the Bosch but Troydon is in love with the DJI.

The motor systems are the shiny objects on emtb's everyone talks about the most but if they're attached to a junk frame in the end it doesn't really matter. Troydon has refined his VPP and the entire package for years and working with cascade is a HUGE thing too. In the end you have a quality bike overall, not just a motor system. I'd stack Forbidden up there too, though they went away from their loved high pivot, but the rest of the frames available today with Avinox are lackluster without the motor.

Same. There is a good chance I'll buy this next one, but I'd rather have the CX-R and a 600w by a LARGE margin. I am concerned that the noise reduction plan on the newer Avinox's, will further reduce efficiency.

The adjustable CS length is a HUGE selling point and it's a nice bike for sure.

They disappeared on me. Two months with only 1 communication, all others went unanswered. So, I filed a PP dispute last week which they have not responded to.

They probably will release the bike, which still is exactly what I'm looking for. However, the stress of unanswered e-mails if/ when I need a replacement part is just more than I can deal with.

Time to find a new bike to replace the Relay.

So, there are a few candidates: Gen2 Crestline, 2026 Regulator, Orbea Wild, E-Druid... maybe a used Vala or the like. Really, I'm not in such a hurry at this point as none combine all of the attributes that I desire.

2 months? That sends alarm bells for sure. Are they still operating?

DJI is a perfectly fine. The power is smoothness is impressive. Yes it does burn through battery when you use the high power levels and yes you need to spend time tweaking the set up so you can get bosch comparible milage and vert meters. But the fast charging is damn impressive and that pretty much is an alternative to running a spare battery.

My call is don't limit yourself to just Bocsh. If the dji bike suits then get it.

My s180 is a truely fantastic bike, No doubt dji crestline is expceptional. Plus its the only dji option with removable battery. Went for a ride the other day with a guy on a velduro in some of the hardest natural tech riding we have around here and that bike also freaken rocks. I did not have any advantage over him on the S180. Either one those bikes would be a sensational upgrade to your relay.

I'm not upgrading anytime soon. But when i do it will be between those two bikes. The crestline suits my spec slightly better because it has removable batteries and 600hw battery option. But i'd likely get the velduro to support a local business and its considerably less expensive,

I don't know, and honestly, I hate to even publicly state this as it's their livelihood, but it's the facts.

I can tell you that when I ordered in early September I was told it would be shown in October and I'd have it in about 4-6 weeks from my order date. The fact that the frame was late, even really late, didn't bother me at all, as it's a new product from a small manufacturer. The lack of communication though concerned me. Particularly in this time of bike industry BKs.

There are some other details, but out of respect, I'm going to keep them private. I still think the bike looks amazing and wish I could own one, but what's the point of having an enduro bike and a warranty if phone calls and e-emails go unanswered and I can't obtain parts as needed in the future?

Just a response providing some reassurance/ updates such as: hey, having a hard time getting your CXR motor, or there was a layup issue, or the US tariffs have affected our operation, or we need to do more testing, our Titanium hardware supplier is running behind, etc. Like anything at all and I would have been totally understanding. I did express strongly at the end that I was requesting an update or a refund, and nothing.

They have 10 days to respond to PP, and it's been 5.

I'm warming up to the Avinox.

In this video


Francis states that the DJI motor was loud in early testing and so they used a triple spindle seal that causes a huge amount of drag to cover up the noise, which it partly did. He even shows where he uses a scale to show that it takes 3#s just to turn over the crank on an Avinox with no chain connected at all. This is where the efficiency goes (and it does go, it's not as efficient as the Bosch) and this has been acknowledged from people in the industry higher up. Apparently the M2 they fixed the rattle internally, then were able to go to a normal seal, which has improved Avinox efficiency considerably and we'll see that on the next batch of Spring motors.

The efficiency, bash protection and the noise are big deals to me personally as I only want a 600w battery, something I am sure that you can get behind.
 
My only fear is the price will go up with how quickly everything sold out in the last batch. If it's a good deal I'll upgrade but if it goes up another 5-10% in price thanks to tariffs, it will be a dealbreaker for me. Velduro is extremely competitive on price too - makes me think there will be cheaper options in the US in the future.

I wonder if DJI charges less than Bosch to the brands as well, you would think they can because of their already massive manufacturing footprint in China.
 
I suspect Avinox will go away from the 600 batteries and only offer 800 and a new option 1000. Their goal is more and more power, you need the watts to keep up with that and the biggest piece of the pie is asking for those numbers.

Measuring motor "efficiency" with it powered off is extremely flawed. That as a basis for any conclusions makes anything else this guy says questionable.

1) Troyden has already verified to me in an email with me that the Gen2 Avinox Crestline will have a 600w battery option,
2) Efficiency has several components, including drag. Drag does not go away just because you now have power to overcome it. I would have thought this was apparent, but I guess not.

Troydon placed order for 600wh batteries along with new frame set so both should be available late March early April. I’ve been running 600Wh battery on Spectre for couple months now, 800Wh battery haven’t been touched since.

If you think whatever he's doing is a viable test of motor drag or efficiency I got nothing esle to tell you.

If I went to dji cresty (not happening anytime soon) I'd probably run 1 x 800wh and 1 x 600wh. Then i'd have the option to go full 800wh battery for high powered hooligan sessions when swapping out or charging up wasn't an option.

A while back Troydon told me that colours will be black, white and a light green.
This is 6 weeks old info so they might have changed that.
