Seems crazy to spend $3,000+ on aftermarket suspension when the bike will never be ridden in proper offroad terrain. Such a waste.

You wouldn't say that if you knew how some of our streets look like over here ^^

Not for the owner and why should anyone else tell him which parts he likes?
I didn’t tell him which parts he likes, I gave my opinion on the parts he chose. And it’s a great suspension, for offroad. But he doesn’t ride it offroad. So it’s not the right application for those parts, and that’s my opinion. Obviously he can buy whatever he wants, but when you post it in a public forum for everyone to see, everyone can give their opinions on it too. Like them or not.

Public forums are here for public discussion. Don’t post if you can’t handle the internet. This is a very weird setup. An attention grabbing bike vs a useful mode of transportation.

To each their own……. Until you post. Then it becomes ours……

If your roads are so bad you need that suspension, what does everyone else ride?

I don’t really care. What you do with your money in private But if you post a huge waste of money on the internet. These peeps will call you out. Be prepared.

Isn't it subjective.

Just because it doesn't appeal or isn't right for YOU, doesn't mean it's wrong. Or do we all have to conform to a specific set of ideals ?

90% of people who buy an S-Works don't gain any advantage from the extra money spent over a lower model, they do it from choice because THEY like or want it. Do we call every one of them out ? (ok, no, because they might be our dentist ...)

To most of the people with MTB's, EMTB's are a huge waste of money - it's down to personal perspective.

Personally, I think it's cool when people do something a bit different. It's interesting. He says he's also riding stairs, he might be riding stairs and landings and bottoming out of the jumps. He might have ten different bikes and decided to make one his ultimate Urban play thing. Why not.

Maybe he doesn't have cool trails on his door step, but still wants to get out and experience/play/enjoy spec'ing and building up a bike the way he wants.

Maybe he has another wheelset and swaps out for the trails - maybe he doesn't - does it matter ? How many of you have a car which is totally inappropriate for what you really use it for ? Yup, you're all sh1t.

Either way, he's shared it because he thought it was interesting. Putting it on the internet makes it more publicly visible, making something public doesn't immediately mean it's ok for everyone to say things are sh1t. How would life work out if everyone walking down the street said everything was sh1t that didn't fit their tastes. "Hey mate, you're wife's Sh1t, you shouldn't let her out in public".

It's great to see so many open minded, fun loving, interesting, positive, encouraging, excited, supportive people in the world - unfortunately, there don't seem to be many left here now.

Yeah still… public forum.
Public opinions

Face it, peeps do weird stuff. It’s not wrong. Just weird. Silly too
We do get a say on forums. That’s sorta the point.

It’s also ok to express opinions. Even if people get all tender and sad.

His bike, his money, his life.
Until he posts………
Then it’s open season.

For the record, I never said it was shit. I said it was a waste to have $3,000 suspension on a bike that will never see offroad. It is cool if you’re doing technical urban assault riding, (jumps, huck to flats, up and down stairs etc). But as a city commuter, it’s overkill. That’s a reality. And it’s my opinion. It’s like having a full on offroad trophy truck, that only drives on city streets, it’s overkill. But plenty of people do that, but it’s still overkill and not what the truck was meant for. Anyway, as long as he enjoys it, that’s all that really matters.
