Shimano XT Di2 12 speed

Hi, a quick update from me. I purchased the 8260 kit and fitted it today to my Gen 4 bike. The instal went very well. I have not yet had chance to do a lot of testing but I can confirm the the current gear number is showing on the ride screen of the flow app. Within the shimano app, I can get it to shift multiple gears but that is as far as I have got. I don't know if I can get it to shift without pedalling yet, but, I suspect not. I will have chance to play around a bit more next weekend with it and see what I can get it to do.

Update from me:-
After careful consideration I decided that neither my riding style or the state of my bank account justified the expense of the new XT Di2 derailleur and shifter so I went for the much cheaper Cues version which with shifter and power cable came in at around €400 vs nearly €700 for the XT. Unfortunately the Cues derailleur model I needed (more about that maybe later) was not available anywhere so I had to wait but it has now been deliverd and the cable fits. I will be installing it over the next week or so, hopefully before Christmas and will keep you updated on how it goes.

Has anyone encountered a problem where the button settings of the SW-M8250 (Di2, Deore XT) derailleur could not be reconfigured, no matter how much I changed them in the E-Tube app?

I decided on the middle solution 😁

Not me, although I have not tried to do what you are doing.

I have Sram X0 Eagle AXS electronic gears with the AXS Pod Controller on my new bike, and XTR M9100 on my old one, and overall I prefer the mechanical XTR

Not only do I much prefer the feel of the mechanical gear lever, but it is far superior of the AXS Pod

The AXS is much slower to shift gears, only shifting one gear at a time, which feels a bit strange at first, although this is intentional because it is an EMTB. Sram says not to change this setting.

From what I've read, one of the things Shimano paid particular attention to was precisely the ‘feel’ of the new shifter.

So, in my humble opinion, it doesn't justify the investment.
If it were me, and since you've already decided to change, I would wait a few more months until the price of the current group drops.
You can set up axs in the app to multi shift.

Not quite sure what this Shimano Compatibility Chart is really saying about your set up but your RD-U8050-SGS is listed in black print while the SW-M8250-IR shifter is in blue which kind of suggests they may not play together. Also I too liked the look of the XT shifter but the E-Bike24 online shop told me only the SW-EN605-R shifter is compatible with the Cues Di2 derailleur.
Maybe that is the cause of your problem.

Blue is the new equipment. Black is old equipment. Brown is discontinued. As long as there is a downward path. They will work together.

Below is my question and the response I got from E-Bike24, maybe things have changed and maybe the problem @Lan has is something else but?????

"2) Would it be possible to use the more adjustable XT Di2 SW-M8250 shifter with the CUES derailleur? No."

If you click on the product info for the Cues RD-U8050-GS. It says it has both wireless and wired Di2 shifting. So it should pair with the new wireless shifters. This is backed up by the compatibility chart.

The other thing is, I don't think he's having trouble pairing them. I think he's saying he's having trouble reconfiguring the switches. For example making the front button gear up, instead of down.

Sorry guys for the late reply. In the meantime my problem has been solved, actually I only had to physically press the pairing button on the derailleur for the software modifications to be applied. 😅
And as you can see abowe in the picture, of course the Cues derailleur (RD-U8050-SGS) works perfectly with the Deore XT switch (SW-M8250). 👌

my only minor problem now is that it is not possible to dedicate a separate function to the second stage of the given switch (its only for the dedicated multishift function).

I'm glad if this informations helps someone. 😊

Finally got my Cues Di2 setup installed and running. Only had a chance to test ride in the city so far but the shifting is super (feels even faster than the Wheel Top derailleur it replaced) and I am really impressed with the Auto mode for riding on the city streets and cycle paths, though as other have mentioned not sure yet how it will work on the rough stuff. Mechanically the Shimano Cues it was easier to set up than the Wheel Top I only had to fine tune on one gear rather than most but of course the Wheel Top is compatible with a much wider range of cassettes. Electronically having to pair with both the Bosch Flow app. and the Shimano E-Tube app. with registration and updates on both is clumsy but does work.
I still need to work out when to use the M+ mode but very happy and all thumbs up so far.:D:D(y)(y)

It's exactly the same as what I've experienced. I'm also coming from WheelTop. What kind of bike do you have?

Got the M8260 XT di2 installed on my Bosch Crestline. Pretty much plug and play, the Bosch Flow App found the new hardware straight away.

I’ll try it out tomorrow, hopefully coast shift works.

Coast shift (Freeshift) is by far my favourite feature of the Di2 drivetrain. Along with the lightning speed of shifts!

Guys, might sound a stupid question but, what is the best method to test if coast shift is working on a bike on a maintenance stand please?

I’d assume you can get the rear wheel spinning, then press the trigger. Watch and see if the front chainring moves to complete the shift.

Hi, spin the wheel as fast as possible on the smallest cog, and let it spin on its own. When it starts to slow down, the derailleur should automatically change cogs.

I was able to procure a SRAM AXS Eagle EP Battery Cable Extension Cord Bosch for my SRAM XO rear derailleur so I won't have to recharge my rd battery. Do you know if the Crestline has internal cable routing? Did you feed yoyr Shimano XT Di2 cable into this port? Any information would be much appreciated!

I picked up a Trek Rail last summer and really enjoying it. As with most of these things, now looking at tweaking/upgrading.
The Trek came with Shimano Deore M6100 as it is the base model bike.

Reading about the Di2 upgrade kits I spotted this:

and thought the price is ok and it has everything I need to move to Di2.

However, reading this thread from start to finish made me realise that the Deore Di2 kit above (m6250) uses a battery only. Although idealy I would have liked the derailleur to use the bike battery, i didnt mind too much as the cost was better.

Reading the spec and this thread though it looks like you need the derailleur to be wired to the Bosch system for full intergration for coast shift etc. and I therefore need to bump up the the XT Di2 kit. This then also means new cassette etc which is bumping the cost.

there is also a Deore level ebike RD, the M6260, it doesn’t come as a kit though. you have to order the Rd, trigger and the cable. Plus activate the high power port on your bosch motor.

Thank you, I had missed that one.

That's helpful as my head tells me the bike may go through chains and cassettes more frequently so maybe not a bad thing having more basic components.

In the few months I have been using Di2, I haven't noticed any more wear or damage on my cassette or chain.
In fact, having Freeshift enabled makes for less, if anything - as I am shifting BEFORE loading the drivetrain up, as I can do this when I see a pinch climb or change in terrain without having to pedal.

I don't mean it'll go through more because of Di2, I meant in general compared to a non E bike.l, but see your point. It took me a lot of reading today to try and understand the range of products.

Think I have it now.

Was it that easy to get sorted? I’ve got an Orbea Rise. Recently installed an XTR wireless kit, everything from a shifting perspective functions but can’t seem to get auto-shift recognised in the E-Tube app. I know your bike and interface are different, so trying to get my head around it.

i thought that even witb Shimano you have to use the wired version for those functions

Does your derailleur take a battery? If so I don't think you'll have those features. It needs to be wired back to the motor.
